Not an anime

This is not an anime!! neither is Aeon Flux. Its animated. Not anime. Peter chung is korean not japanese.

reply

Anime is just short for animation. Doesn't matter where it comes from.

reply

Wrong, Anime specifically refers to Japanese style Animation, Peter Chung, and his animations don't really fit into plain American Animation, and its not exactly Japanese styly Anime, He has it own style, but its certainly closer to Anime and not Disney, or Hollywood 3d CGI, so they had to catigorize it somehow.

so Amerime? :D AMER(ican + an)IME

:D

Just say animated production. Covers everything from Fritz the cat to Snow White to Akira.

I judge an animation based on the animation itself and how well its done, not where its done.

Sometimes animation is amazing but the story sucks. Sometimes the story is amazing and you forgive flawed animation. Once in a while we get both.

If you discount something before you even check it out- you never know what you might be missing out on.

Great statements here. i hate to make useless posts that just slap praise on the previous post, but what else to do when the statements were made better by that person than i would have done... and i want other people to think twice before ignoring them? useless praise... ;)

reply

thats why it used to be called Japanimation

reply

I don't care how you call it.

reply

The Anime industry is usually related to the Japanese industry so what you are saying is right. The only thing is, most of the anime now created by Japanese studios is actually outsourced to Korea. So "technically" not an anime, in the true sense of the word, but since Koreans do most of the work now, theres not much of a muchness.

reply

most anime still sucks no matter where it's from.

Most chibi-influenced anime's have that, but I can assure you that there are a lot more anime in a more, how should I put it... 'serious'-type of style, like Akira for example wich is based on the comic/manga (its both comic and manga since it also got signed by Marvel Comics). Or Jin-RĂ´, also a great anime without any chibi, or 'hard boiled eggs' how you call them. :)

anime is an abbreviation of animation. It doesn't matter where it comes from. People need to get this through their heads.
Yes, the western meaning of the word anime refers to animation coming from Japan, but it's all made the same, and doesn't deserve any special treatment.
People in Japan call all animation anime (or "animeshon"), from One Piece to South Park.

It matters to butthurt Japanophile anime fans who will go around thinking that everything Japan churns out is amazing, ignoring the fact that most of Japan's animation is done in China and South Korea nowadays.

Yes, in fact, it is. Because language drifts and evolves.

WORDS MEAN THINGS! Also, before you come to bitch about a plot hole, rewatch the show/movie.
