I went into Calvaire not knowing anything about it, other than that it was pretty highly regarded by fans of the disturbing horror films I've been watching a lot of lately (Inside, Martyrs, etc). And I'm glad I didn't know what was coming; I was constantly surprised.

agreed, i generally dont read anything but a brief synopsis before i see a film- i dont like to have any particular expectations or interpretations prior to viewing
alos glad i didnt see it classified as a horror as i feel it was far removed from that, in my mind i see horror as monsters and the like and would have been expecting something else
as it is,i thought this was a most satisfying enjoyable and *beep* funny movie!
