Bogus Show

As an avid "ghosthunter" and supernatural enthusiast myself, I just wanted you all to know that this show is absolutely bogus.

reply

who cares if it's bogus? The way I think of it is it's just TV, it's entertaining me and thats all that matters, TV is here to entertain us and I've been creeped out by this show so it's serving its purpose. So I don't care if it's fake or not.
Do you have any solid evidence that this is fake or do you just strongly believe it? I think you need proof you definitly say it's fake or not, you can say "I think it's fake" or something but not it's totally fake without any proof you know?

PEACE!

Chris Flemming is a very good friend of Grant Wilson & Jason Hawes from Taps aka Ghost Hunters & he apeared with them on one episode of Ghost Hunters!

I dont think Dead Famous is fake, coz Chris also takes a Scietific approach & he does try to rule other things out a lot of the time, from what i've seen! I also dont think Taps would invite a frawd on there show or befriend one!

Dead Famous also had Tom & Lisa Butler on there show who are experts in EVP & are very sensible in there approach! I dont think they would take part in a show which was fake!

I agree. Unfortunately this does not make for "good press" so it is hard to find material that shows just how bogus this is. One good source of information is "Skeptical Inquirer"; which is available at some bookstores in the magazine section or by subscription.

How is Ghost hunting bogus? It's searching for evidence or Paranormal Activity, nothing bogus about tryiong to find evidence! I have witnessed Paranormal Activity a few times & recorded stuff on video/audio!

reply

I'm not going to say the show is bogus, but I'm pretty skeptical about it. The thing that gets me is that every single place they go to is just crawling with paranormal activity according to Chris. Has Chris ever walked into a building and not been like "Oh Man!!". And when Chris starts "channeling" it gets kind of cheesy. Another thing that kind of hurts the credibility of the show, at least to me, is some of the people they bring along with them. They bring fans of the dead people. Not just fans but crazy fans, people who dress and try to act like the people they are investigating. These people don't seem very mentally stable to begin with, but when somebody is such a huge fan like that, they want to believe nothing more than that they have made contact with the ghost of this person they practially worship. While they might not be lying about their experiences, they are definatly very open to suggestion. And some of them just seem to fake it. Like the John Lennon fan who dressed and tried to talk like John, started channeling John Lennon's spirit. That was pretty silly.

As for the episode of Ghost Hunters that Chris was on, it has been quite a controversial episode. Many Ghost Hunters fans think the episode was faked, and there has been some evidence provided that suggests it may have been. The biggest piece was a screen shot when Chris was telling the ghost to drop the temperature of the room to a certain point, there is an anomoly on the screen that suggests that the thermal camera footage was doctored. Some people also point to the fact that Jay and Grant (the two main guys from Ghost Hunters) were acting kind of strange, and less than enthused about the situation, leading people to think that maybe they were coerced by Sci-Fi channel to go along with the "evidence" even if they were skeptical about it. Also the homeowner and Chris were apparently friends (I read this on a message board, don't know if it's true). What is true though is that the homeowner who seemed to be determined to prove the house was haunted, with or without TAPS's help was or still is trying to pitch a movie idea about his "haunted" house and it's connection with the Manson murders.

Is the show bogus? I don't know, maybe not all of it, but it doesn't exactly exude credibility. It is entertaining though, and I guess that's what matters.

Ghost Hunters is clearly the most bogus looking of all 'spirit shows', looks like a soap opera.

reply

If you want bogus watch Most Haunted. They get activity everywhere they go and pretty much the same activity. Then they curse and freak out and run like the true professionals they are.

reply

Thank you!!!

Dead famous only relied on the producers ability to have chris start his bs when it was on cue. Besides if it wasn't fake why is all that footage floating around you tube with their "bloopers" of hauntings and his being taken over from a spirit.

Personally ghost hunters is a far more credible show, and the episode with flemming only tarnished jasons and grants reputation. But not really, I don't think ja and grant would adhear to flemmings bs if their producers didn't talk them into letting him apear on the show for the case. And even then I don't this they would knowingly allow him to pull the hoax like he did.
