It ended in Brazil possibly in 2005 and the states I think in 2007 when it re-aired on Telemundo as El Color del Pecado. It is getting more and more difficult to get some of the novelas in the States. The major networks Univision and Telemundo are more interested in either creating their own "remakes" or original novelas. Also, I believe(correct me if I'm wrong) that Telemundo and Globo (which is where Da Cor do Pecado originated) ended their contract or agreement to bring Brazilian novelas to the States. I think it is crying shame and this is one reason whe miss out on such great novelas and great actors is becasue the money-making part of the business.
As far as I know it is getting more difficult to find novela DVD's in their entirety. I've heard it is very difficult to get Brazil, Argentina, and Venezuelan novelas on DVD nowadays. Telemundo has very few on DVD and ususally the show has to have huge ratings. Univision puts quite a few out but, the novelas are edited very choppy and do not have all capitulos. I've heard the reason for not putting them on DVD is because the lenght of noveals are very long and it can be very costly to distribute them on DVD. I think there are probably copyright issues too when one is brought to the US. Basically, it isn't very cost effective for them to put them on DVD if their isn't enough interst. Again, I feel they are missing out on a huge market after all there is no problem putting a show like House or a mini-series like Lonesome Dove on DVD for distributors.
Da Cor do Pecado is a very good show. Tais and Reynaldo did an excellent job and althogh I haven't seen all of the telenovela yet the two have amazing chemistry. This show for me is in my top 20 telenovelas right up there with Dame Choclate, La Fea Mas, Bella, and La Mujer en el Espejo. I'm just glad that I was able to discover it via online because now I'm trying to see other shows these two great actors are in. We can just cross our fingers and hope they will re-air it somewhere in the future.
