shareI could be wrong but in interviews that she had about the movie, she kept saying how she felt like she "Stuck out like a soar thumb" since she was the only member of the cast that wasnt actually english, and how she felt really awkward when she did use the accent because she was afraid of how good or bad she was doing. And from what I understood it was actually her, and she struggled with it but did her best. But who knows.

shareNow now, Scottish is English in the sense that the term English may be used for the Kingdom of England, but also for the entire United Kingdom. Just as Holland is really only a portion of the Netherlands, and yet often used when referring to the whole country.
As for the Aussie, Hewitt was essentially just saying that she was the only one that did not have a British [Commonwealth] accent.
One could play the same game over whether a Canadian is an American (they are from North America after all)

I have now seen three postings from this user saying that JLH was dubbed on the film. I am replying again now to confirm that she did all her own voice work on the movie. I know this because I was in it, and played opposite her!! So let's be clear - the only re-dubbing done was because of sound problems, and not because any actor's voice was felt "wrong" or accent "not good enough". JLH did the British accent, and whether you like it or loathe it, it was all her own work, aided by a top dialect coach who had worked with her before.

With regard to (B), I can definitely confirm that she was NOT the only person dubbed. I was in the film and my stuff was dubbed, as it had been recorded "live" at Cardiff Central station. Simon Webbe was also in the studio after me to do some of his stuff, and Gordon Rennie (the announcement supervisor) was also being dubbed. It seems to almost be fashionable in the film world nowadays to re-dub stuff after filming; a constant irritant to actors!
shareAs a film and video producer, I must say this movie has the worst sound track I've ever heard (not talking about the choice of music, but the technical refinement). Virtually all voices are re-recorded afterwards, it is out of sync and the voices are placed to clear in the sound of the surroundings (a dead give away).
Steve Murf, if you played in the movie, what the hell was the sound man doing? I figure the editor couldn't use a single second of the origal recordings. I think it is a nice movie for some reasons, but it makes me physically sick to have to watch a movie with a soundtrack produced this badly.
I have thought several times this movie might deserve a remake (technically that is)... (the overly contrasty look of the DVD release could easily be fixed, only a new sound mix - hopefully some original audio is still useful, a new edit here and there and it could make a best seller).

shareIt seems to me that it is deeper than JLH's natural voice, more husky. Particularly when she is in her "anonymous" character. Perhaps when it was re-looped, they tinkered with the sound?
shareit was slightly out of sync. But the problem I had with this film based in Bristol is no one had any hint of west country in their voice.
shareThe sound was so messed up on this movie. Why did the character have to have an English accent? And if it was so important, why did they hire an American actress? And if that was also absolutely necessary, then why'd they mess the sound up so much making her fake accent SOO obvious? I'm not blaming Jennifer Love Hewitt, I just don't understand the thought processes of those who made the movie.
