Would you bring little kids to see this?

This is what had me thinking throughout the film, probably because some guy brough two little girls (between around the ages of 7-10) and they were constantly asking him questions throughout the film.

I'm all for not dumbing things down for small children, but I'm not sure about exposing them to the Marquis de Sade at such a young age.

Thoughts?

Why in most of these post there is always some jerk asking would you bring a kid to see this or asking a question similar to that? Who cares about a kid, let them watch charlotte's web and disney and pixar movies stop going into these movies where you know damn well a kid wouldnt grasp or understand the movie that's like asking a comment board would you bring kids to see constantine or any film from the 1920's.... that was the most stupid question i have ever heard.....

Try reading the post before replying, not just the title.

That would depend on the movie; a stuffy silent melodrama, probably not, but something like a Chaplin slapstick comedy or a Douglas Fairbanks action film I can see the kids getting into.

I obviously depends on the kid, now, doesn't it? There are an aweful lot of adults who don't understand surrealism, and who are easily disturbed by the macabre. Age has a lot less to do with it than an individual's temperment. I try to encourage people to approach media while thinking of them critically. It is simple minded to assume that to watch a movie or read a book one needs to agree with the entirety of its content. People all have ideas and opinions, and this doesn't in any way deprive me of my own, or anyone else of theirs.

It's great that the film inspired the girls to ask questions, as it shows that they were thinking. Instead of censoring things from people, get them to think. And yes, children do think. They learn more between their second to fifth years than they do for the rest of their entire lives. Personally, my son is three years old, and I doubt he'd appreciate it yet. By 7-10? Probably, better than him sneaking out to watch the latest action blockbuster at a friends house.

it seemed perfect viewing for children of that age to me.

Watching this movie right now, quiet enjoyable, but no I wouldn't bring any young child to see this movie.

When I saw Land of The Dead at the theaters, I saw a Grandma bring her little grand kids in to see the movie, and when I saw The Devil's Rejects, a young woman brought in two little kids to see the movie.

Hope those little ones didn't have any nightmares from their experience.

I'm actually a little more worried about grandma.

reply

I would. Wait, no I wouldn't; I don't have kids.
