Movie was great!

I think that this movie was great, but probably not for everyone. To me it seemed to move a little slow. It did, however, have a very authentic feel to it, as far as small towns in Middle Tennessee go. Going to Nashville for fun, riding in the shopping carts (which is dangerous by the way) for fun, etc. The part about Sandra Locke got a little corny. I do love Autumn Reeser, but her character was a little too starstruck. But overall, I think that this movie is great for those who can relate to the small town life!

What was the deal with the dog riding around on top of the car??? I don't understand... But I loved the movie. Very sweet and true to small town Tennessee.

I agree with you. It was an adorable movie to watch, especially the background and the costumes, very 1978, a time when full-time mothers wore dresses adorned with pins, pumps with matching hand-bags and went to the salon every week to get their hair fixed (under the dryer). Motherhood was the entire meaning of their existence which meant they had no thought of leaving their home town. They also tried to be the polite middle aged Southern ladies they believed they were destined be, including growing old gracefully. Their teenagers were also typical for their time, this particular group being a bit "over the top" about their beloved hometown actress, Sondra Locke, primarily because they were drama students (dreaming of stardom themselves) which put their excitable behavior in perspective. A corny but sweet comical-drama. I liked it a lot.

It's a very good film. It really captures the time.

And I don't it is too much gushing over Sondra Locke. She was in 1978 a big star and she was from their hometown.

That's exactly how they would act.
