Why is everybody crapping on this film?

Generally, I don't like films like this - Top Gun-esque films - they are more my brother's thing...but I liked this one. Granted, the relationship thing was maybe a little unecessary, but I think it was supposed to show Fischer's vulnerability -- plus, it's an American films and don't we love to throw romance up into our movies? lol Anyway -- I think it was good for what it was...it wasn't supposed to be a documentary about the US Coast Guard. What exactly were you people looking for? It was ENTERTAINMENT people! Stop looking for reasons to hate movies and just enjoy the simplicity of them...this one wasn't designed to make you think...if you want to think -- I can name lots of films (and books -- don't forget about those!) to get you well on your way to cerebral fitness!

I agree with everything you said. Thanks for that, now I don't need to.

Personally, I didn't really like it because the acting and the script were pretty bad. Costner + Kutcher = not so good. Also, it went way too long and had about four endings. That's just a start.

Plus: Stupid dialogues and stupid behavior. But the rating shows, that there are enough people out there, who donĀ“t care about those unimportant things in a movie.

Heh...the problem with this film: it was not the least bit entertaining to me. It was far too long, the lead characters were stereotypical (the getting too old for this legend, the cocky *beep* replacing the legend), and the dialogue was horrendous. If I want mindless entertainment, I'll stick with a Die Hard movie.

Finally, to know I'm not the only one who didn't like this movie. Too much stereotyping, terrible dialogue, and manipulative and predictable.

Why is everyone crapping on this film? Maybe they don't like it for the reasons stated all through the message boards. Read any of them? If you like it, fine. If you don't like it, fine. Everyone doesn't have to have the same views or appreciations. I thought it was ok to see once, but I don't think I'd want to endure it again for many of the same reasons everyone is crapping on it.
