How would big Chief Kurgan explain Randall's watery death?

He was going to prison for a looong time.

There is no way you would let a civilian onto a helicopter to swim a rescue. And that's what old Randall was at that point, a civilian.

This always bugged me in what was otherwise an entertaining movie. Even though they also ripped of An Officer and a Gentlemen's ending. I was expecting one of the kids to shout "way to go Emily" and him carry her out of the school.

No that ending sucked really now I think about it. It was even a little Top Gun esque with him becoming a training instructor, like when Maverick went back to Top Gun and said "I heard the best of the best were going to be back here, so uh"
