Question about the Moms...does it bug anyone else...

Did it bug anyone else that JA is basically messing around with his demon birth mom?

reply

It did creep me out a bit

reply

Yeah, no, it made me laugh at the end.
I was like.. wtf, is he making out with his mom?

Lucas: Somebody's got to.

Yeah, it just got randomly incestuous didn't it?

Dean, Alec, Dean, Alec, Dean, Alec...*whimper* I really can't just have them both?

reply

It freaked me out a bit. I was like WTF? This movie really is getting weird.

reply

It certainly was strange. And the woman was willing to take it further to be with him. The line was like, "I'll be who ever (whatever) you need me to be." I just cringed.

reply

No not really.

She gave birth to him in the (really crappy special effected) demon form and has kink with him in human form.

If he was having sex with her while she was in the gross get-up, maybe I'd find it weird.

But I took her words "I can be whatever you need me to be" to basically mean that whatever form he needed her to be in (mother, father, sister, brother, friend, pet dog...) she could do that.

I'm totally not making sense. Oh well.

reply

Human form / Demon form whats the difference both ways she's still his mother even when she says I can be whoever you need me to be regardless of what form she takes she's still his mother plain and simple, so to me that was very weird, not to mention sickening. If it were me in that type of situation i'd find the nearest cliff and toss myself off.
Did it weird anyone else out even further when after finding out who she really was that he still couldn't stop him self and decided to play a little more tonsil hockey with her EWWWW!!!!

God sent us an angel from the heavens above and called him Wentworth Miller

Naw, it was kinda hot. They kept it civil and platonic for the first few dates. Actually it seemed sweet, old-fashioned. The type of respectful courting full of Christian values that this country is lacking. Too many demonic Oedipal movie relationships get all groiny from the onset; this one developed slowly which made it much more credible.

reply

I thought it was pretty gross! I was surprised he didn't make that big of a scene when he found out! If I found out I was making out w/ my dad i would of past out and then died! But I do agree w/ ur statement "this one developed slowly which made it much more credible." bugbear-4!

Dean Winchester-Do i look like Paris Hilton?

reply

He's not messing with her - she's messing with him. I mean, she KNOWS he's her son. He has no idea she's his mum. And I think by the time he finds out he's kind of beyond being freaked out...so much weird has happened to him, what's one more thing?

Of course you should be afraid of the dark - you know what's out there

When I figured out that Marisol was Jake's Mom the first thing I thought was "wow, Jensen playing another character whose Mommy takes waaaaaaaaaaaay too much interest in him" (see Jen's role as Jason Teague on Smallville to get the joke).
I flashed back and thought "at least they didn't have sex at the cabin". (btw, that cabin...anyone else have Evil Dead/Army of Darkness flashbacks?)

BUt I figured that was a nice little 'evil' addition (Mommy kissing her little sonny boy) since his mom is, you know, The Devil and that fits in nicely.

ANd let's face it, Jen and Shannon had a lot more chemistry than Jen and Dominique!

My incest squick alert was pretty much broken for good when I started reading Sam/Dean slash, so seeing a Jensen character have an incest moment wasn't a completely new thing. Plus, incest isn't all that new when it comes to deities - hell, take a look at the Greek gods sometime. So no, it didn't bug me. I thought it was an interesting addition to the plot. Jake loves and is devoted to his "adoptive" mother so much that he often brings her orchids, and he gets a tattoo to symbolize her. After he finds out that "The Devil" is his real mom (supposedly), the tattoo shifts to represent the devil. There's a lot of subtext and symbolism there.
