Wow
That was really heart-wrenching. I can't imagine going through something like that.

What an excellent movie...the film makers handled the subject really, really well and made it so hard hitting...

I agree with you Amberly. It was so amazing to see this woman who had been through so much and was finally at the point where life was back on track for her and the rest of the family only then to have their world torn apart yet again by her daughters murder. I also loved how they did the collage like flash backs, I thought those were so sad because you knew how the movie would end. This movie is such a good example of how the human spirit can triumph over the most difficult obsticles.
shareI know I have PMS so that doesn't help, but this movie had me crying from the first half hour. Extremely well done, and acted beautifully by all.
sharei cried too. the first time after they didnt know if she was killed or not. all lifetime movies usually make me cry though. lol

~ My mother & I cried too. This movie was so wonderful and tragic.

I loved how they didn't really show the kids going to columbine High until the shooting happened. When she got out of the car, they emphasized everyone's jackets and the school board. You're right, the movie was sad, I tried so hard not to cry. Lifetime has always been the best.
shareYeah, that was good. I thought it was very affective how they panned out to show the school sign and all. It also helped keep the attention on Dawn for the beginning three-quarters of the movie

I think it was really smart of them not to mention the schools name. A friend told me to watch the movie and told me that they gave small clues like the C on the gym floor. But if I hadn't known about the school I would of never thought of Columbine.

That was all very deliberate. When we were filming the volleyball scenes, we had the extras make all their own signs, but were sure to exclude any mention of Columbine.
shareI am crying right now. What a performance by Debra Winger. I also loved the dedication at the end...rightfully there, and it reminds us of the tragic events.

Mr. Cellophane shoulda been my name, Mr. Cellophane....
The movie was so moving! And the acting was wonderful and very convincing. What a tragedy for everyone. It's so sad that even the survivors of the shootings still have to deal with not only emotional trauma but also such serious injury like spinal cord injury/paralysis, traumatic brain injury, and/or chronic pain. It must have been and is devestating. Bless everyone unfortunately connected to this. I happen to btw, have a TBI and other damage from huffing (inhaling fumes). I left a post in the "Thirteen" '03 message board under "sniffing toxins ruined the quality of my life!" So please feel free to read that and print it out. And perhaps this tragedy won't be so much in vain. Bless you and please take good care, Aimee
shareWe? What part did you play in the making of the movie?
shareI gotta say, it really shocked me in this movie when they panned out to the sign..... I thought it was going to be a movie about the mother's brain disease -- not about Colombine! But when that event happened I was so horribly upset about it, that when it panned out I felt almost angry that that had to happen in the movie as well -- because they'd all already gone through so much! I had no idea that would be brought into it as there was already so much that had happened.
I'd be interested to know how much of that was true and how much artistic licence was given.
Great movie (wiped away tears, and I rarely cry at movies.....)

Great detail was given to accuracy. The real life Dawn Anna and her family were present during shooting and were consulted every step of the way. Kudos to Debra Winger and the rest of the producers for treating the family and the story with respect.
shareIt made me cry, I feel really bad for that family. I had to change the channel when I heard about the shooting. :[ I eventually watched the rest on another occasion, but it was still horribly sad.
shareI missed the movie, i am soooooo upset. i wanted to see it sooooo bad. does anyone know if it is going to be on again? if anyone taped it i would be willing to pay u for it.
pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee let me know- thank you- emmie
DONT FRET! It comes on all the time! In fact, it was on the day before yesterday.. at least I think so. You just have to watch out for it. I think MSN has a TV Guide section, so you can type in 'dawn anna' and see when it airs next.
sharelauren is my cousin and when i watched the movie i cried too it was really sad but thats not the true story.
shareYeah I got cry-y at the shooting part, but I find I do at any kind of reminder/mention of a mass shooting like that now.
shareI'm watching the movie right now and earlier in the scene when Dawn yells at Lauren for taking a short cut during her team's run, she says 'Townsend, Lauren' according to my closed captioning. You can't hear her say it because there is noise in the background but that's one clue.
This movie is heartwrenching and ironically, the past few days, I've been looking at Columbine related information. I was wondering when or if the movie would be on.
I don't know if this has been mentioned, but I was wondering how Lauren's siblings are doing today?
I would also like to know how Dawn and her family are doing after Lauren death

I agree. And I think Debra Winger was absolutely the most perfect choice to play Dawn Anna. she did a phenomenal job!
