Banned by Blockbuster

I work at Blockbuster and we have this movie but we are unable to put it out for rent for a reason unknown to us. Blockbuster corporation has put the rental release of the movie on hold and I was curious if anyone knew why?

I work at blockbuster too. We are faced with the same situation. At first i thought it was a defective batch of disks but that was a long time ago. I was wondering also why they banned this title. ANyone know?

reply

i work at a blockbuster too. today i asked about this dvd and i guess the reasoning is that steven seagal was sued by columbia tri-star for making this film cuz it violated a contract he has with them.

reply

Thanks guys. That explains why I can't get it either.

reply

My Blockbuster has it.

what about Hollywood Video?

While true, Hollywood Video has a MUCH better selection than "No More Late Fees... Not Really" Blockbuster, "Clementine" was never released there either due to some lawsuit.

...but I have one of the official *not pirated* copies!

Only a true underdog can stand up for his makeshift hollywood video chain, as they have already been sold from underneath them to Movie Gallery, and will shortly be a dying breed. On the other hand why not make fun of Blockbuster and their very easy to understand more than "cut your food up for you and eat it for you too" babying policy they give their customers. There must be some reason they are #1 in the video business and will remain that way till video dies out.

The reason is simple: that statement isn't true. Blockbuster (much like Netflix) is actually losing money and in serious trouble, whereas Hollywood/Movie Gallery is doing just peachy. Heck, the only reason they're number two right now is because Blockbuster (who couldn't afford Hollywood Video, btw, yet somehow the much-smaller Movie Gallery could) is currently monopolizing the industry with as many locations as Starbucks. So it's not that I'm making fun of Blockbuster. Only an idiot would do that. I'm just calling it as it is.

And yes, Hollywood has an infinitely better selection than any Blockbusters, if only because they actually have movies in stock, whereas everyone's stealing from "big blue." Also, ever compared a Game Rush (Blockbuster's game store) with a Game Crazy (Hollywood's game store)? Game Crazy is always much nicer with a better selection of games, wheras every Game Rush is disorganized and has the feeling of a train wreck. My best friend is an employee of Blockbuster and he spends more money at Hollywood Video. His only reason for staying with big blue? More money. Can't say I blame him for that reason. But the time will soon come (and I mean within the next year or so) when Blockbuster will have to seriously cut costs. Heck, they're closing more stores than they're opening right now, while Hollywood continues to open more stores than they close. And every single Hollywood store makes money, which begs the question if each store is making money, how will they "shortly be a dying breed?" The only dying breed I see is the dodo that is Blockbuster.

All video stores are losing money they make ends meet by selling used movies and now doing trade ins

i rented this from blockbuster in England; it was damaged & kept skipping so maybe it was originally on hold due to defective discs; i can't imagine it was damaged from being rented too many times!

reply

And by the way, Hollywood was not sold from underneath them. Movie Gallery's offer was just waaay better than Blockbuster's, who is also considering going up on the market.

the real reason why it was banned is obvious: the movie is so crap they can't believe it was even made.

This is actually a good movie, and it's rather stupid that it's being marketed as a Steven Seagal movie.
Over here in the Netherlands the cover has the line "Steven Seagal VS Jun Lee" and a big ass picture of him from another movie (I think it's from the Foreigner)
The little girl in the movie is adorable and very convincing ,the storyline (the main part being the girl) is nicely done.
I think it's awesome of Steven Seagal to play such a minor role.

The little girl has a nice little message for him during the end credits, I laughed my ass off :D "Seagal!, I love you!" blowing a hand kiss and giggling away.

A highly enjoyable movie, sorry that you guys can't get it.

I am watching this crappy movie right now while i read the forums.

If this is enjoyable I don't know what wouldn't be. Having the little girl talk talk dirty, wanting to marry her father and unzipping his pants is not my cup of tea either.

I sell a lot of stuff on Amazon under the name DVD2H, and you can check my feedback to see that I am reputable. I have about six of these with no box art...just the disc only, that I can sell for 2.99 each plus 2.49 freight. Just do a Paypal payment to [email protected] for the full amount and email me at that address to let me know you have done it and I will get it out that day, first class mail (no other options available, sorry). Continental US only.
