YES!!!

Yes! Well, first of all, I'm the first one to do a thread on this, but that's not it.

Anyway, this is an AWESOME show! Alan Menkin (who wrote the music for it) is a genius. I can't wait. This is going to be so cool, I hope it's well done, and does it justice. Link By Link and other such songs will be awesome put to the screen, and I have a special love of this because my school will be one of the first amatuer productions to be putting it on ever.

This movie is going to be great!

Well I saw it last night, and while I don't know that we needed another remake of it, this one was not bad at all. Pretty darned scary in some scenes, I was thinking of kids that might be watching it.

What part did your son play, Terra? I thought all the kids did a commendable job.

We thought your child was exceptionally cute, terra! Kudos to him.

reply

If the kids with speaking parts were all British then there are a lot of young actors who need dialect training.

As a Brit myself who has worked with some great young actors, the accents were slightly hammy to be honest.

Supporting cast acting was decent enough, but if it were not for your child being in it, I would tell you most definately not to bother watching it.

Terrible would be the best I could say about this show.

I think the kids were great . . Jane Krakowski was great . . Kelsey Grammer wasn't mean enough and it was way too sunny . . they should've filmed this in the winter time - don't they know that it's almost always overcast and gloomy in London!! I know it was filmed in the middle of summer in Hungary, but they need to take in account that this took place on Christmas Eve . . in the winter time! I did see this at MSG in NYC about 3 years ago and so some of the music began to sound familiar, but I must say that this TV version does not compare to the other musical version, the 1970 production of "Scrooge" with Albert Finney (one of my favorite versions). . .even Bill Murray was a better Scrooge in "Scrooged" . . that my opinion.

I quite agree.

I think some people are just to Critical about what they watch this wasn't a bad version of A Christmas Carol I actual liked it a great deal. I was hopping to find info on a CD of the Music I specialy liked the Song during Christmas Future the one sung by the Grave Diggers Though I also like the song "Thankyou very Much" sung in the Movie "Scrooge" During the same Part. Oh well I like the Movie Keep the Faith.

And I still think Christmas is a HUMBUG. Maybe the Ghost of Christmas Past will visit me and change my Mind.

I really ;loved it!!! too bad they didn't put my fav. one voices from the past. Does anyone know where I can find the lyrics to this musical????

reply

Your boy did a great job, Terra, a memorable performance! You'll be pleased when you see the finished product, I'm sure.

Although clearly some people found it was not their cup of tea, it was not a bad show at all. I enjoyed it and I'm sure most people did, too. All the kids did a fine job and your son was really cute in his role.

What role did Terra's son act in?

reply

Terra? When will the DVD be released? I loved the show. It would be cool if it was performed on stage. And while some parts may have been frightening to very small children (i.e. the scene with the song, Link By Link), I'd say it's a great film for the whole family. My favorite scene is the "Fezziwing's Annual Christmas Ball." The dancing was spectacular. Of all the versions of A CHRISTMAS CAROL that I have seen, this one's my favorite (Mickey's Christmas Carol is my second favorite).

I loved this! I really want it on DVD...

I especially enjoyed Ruthie Henshall, but then again, I always love her. She's simply a musical marvel :)

And then, I also like the girl who played Fan, Leah-Verity White. I saw her in a clip from Andrew Lloyd Webber's "The Woman in White"; she was in the original cast. She's pretty talented for that age!

Masquerade! Paper faces on parade; hide your face so the world will never find you!

I just got the DVD as an early Christmas present, and I can't stop watching it, particularly the songs "Jolly Good Time", "Lights of Long Ago", "God Bless us Everyone", "A Place Called Home", and "Christmas Together."

Do you hear the people sing, singing the song of angry men?

reply

Every time I hear "God Bless Us Everyone" at the end where everyone's singing, it just pulls at my heart string. Ruthie Henshall is an awesome actress. Her performance in this movie really moved me. So did her performance in Les Miserables as Fantine. She has a beautiful voice, imo.
