I usually love The Higglytown Heroes, and so does my son. As a paramedic myself, I was very excited when an episode featured a situation where an ambulance needed to be called. But my mood quickly changed when the attendants on the ambulance were referred to as "ambulance drivers". I was very offended and furious! Every other "hero" on this show has been given proper respect and it really bothered me that EMT's and paramedic's were not.
shareI doubt that 3-6 year olds are going to remember the word paramedics. They use terminology that children can understand and identify with. I am sure they didn't air this show with the sole intention of "offending and infuriating" you. Grow up. It's for the kids.
shareMy 3 year old daughter has known that her father is a paramedic forever. She can say paramedic and knows some of what he does. Kids are smarter than you think!

shareSeems to me that the hero was an Ambulance DRIVER. He DROVE the AMBULANCE. He did not perform any MEDICAL SERVICE requiring an EMT or Paramedic. Ol' Ponch just drove the ambulance to the hospital.

shareAnyone with a doctorate can be called 'Doctor'. If you find an error - discuss it with your child and get it correct in their mind - when they watch it later they'll remember the talk they had with you. I watch it with my son.
