Zathura is better because it has Kristen Stewart.

krt20022 are you 16? or are you older than 19? cuz if your older than 19... well let me put it this way shes 16 meaning still a kid... Get where Im going with this?

For any other reason; What could possibly make Zathura so much better with Kristen Stewart in it?

reply

I am a 19 year old chick not some 40 year old perverted man. I think she is beautiful...is that such a bad thing??? Also, she is a great actress. I have seen her previous movies and she is amazing especially in 'Speak'.

Being a 19 year old girl who thinks a 16 year old girl is pretty is not a crime, it is just gay. :D
She's not someone I would be interested in, but I am 23, so I shouldn't be...
I will stick to my perverted thoughts about Lindsay Lohan, before the ugly dyke entered her life, that just killed it for me.

reply

Well actually Jumanji is better because it had Robin Williams, who was a huge legend and Kristen Stewart is just some little thing that disappeared after Twilight.

reply

So because someone likes that a particular actor is in a film they must want to fnck that actor? if you can hear me in the gutter you live in, 16 is legal most/many places.

[deleted]

Good point, but don't forget one of the best actors in Jumanji, Kirsten Dunst.

reply

In my opinion, Jumanji was a much better movie than Zathura. Jumanji had great actors (Robin Williams) and better special effects. It also had a better story and more believable characters. Zathura was an OK film but it needed more development and watching 2 brothers fight virtually every scene didn't help either. I would have liked to see Tim Robbins and the sister be more involved in the adventure throughout the movie.

[deleted]

Jumanji - it's not even close.

reply

This has already been discussed over and over and the general opinion is Jumanji.

reply

Zathura
Jumanji had way too many annoying characters

No shi* of course, because Jumanji was done back in the 90s.
You cant blame it for not having effects as good as Zathura!
I havent seen Zathura yet, so idk which is better.

reply

Jumanji...Zathura sucks in my opinion!

reply

Jumanji was more original when it came out
I liked it waaaaay better

I would have to say Zathura is better because Zathura was not orginally a book and Jumanji was. The movie of Jumanji was very different from the book. It is pretty hard to make a movie out of a 20 paged book though.

reply

lt says based on the novel by....(Whoever) at the start of zathura

reply

no matter WHAT any one thinks, zathura is better. 5 reasons.(BTW, i don't hate jumanji. its a really good movie, juust not as good as zathura)
5:as someone said, jumanji had too many 'annoying characters'. this one does not.
4:you could really conect with the characters(those of us who are kids, teenagers)
3:not EVERY MOVE of the game led to destruction and near death. some where just 'move ahead 3 spaces' stuff. not as much running and screaming.
2:it had *just* the right mix of humor and action. and well mixed, too. not lots of jokes clumped at *this* corner, and lots of running and screaming and dying here at *this* corner
1: it had kristen stewart in it, which automatically makes it the best movie thats on at the time, and for a while coming.

LMAO dude Robin Williams buries the little cute okay actress Krisen Stewart.

They were both books. They were written by the same person

If only his name had been mentioned in the page for this movie under "writing"...

His name is Chris Van Allsburg.

i thought the little danny kid was adorable, i mean he was only six with a brother who blamed him for everything. but anyway, i thought this movie was cute, altho jumanji was way better. mayb cuz it came first and was original, whereas this movie was a copy for the was for the younger generations of the 21 century who didnt see jumanji. like the astronaunt coming back from being stuck in the game compared to robbin williams character alan perrish.

"TRAVIS WALL OF SYTYCD WAS GIPPED!!!! I DEMAND A RECOUNT!!!!!!!!!!"

reply

Uhh... his name is right next to the poster, underneath "writing credits" and before "(book)". I don't know how much more obvious they could have made it.

reply

Jumanji without a doubt.

reply

Uh, yes, Zathura WAS originally a book. It was written by the same author who wrote Jumanji. The novel version of Zathura is a sequel to the novel version of Jumanji. I'm curious as to how you weren't aware of that? The films, however, are seperate. The events of the film version of Jumanji are not mentioned in the film version of Zathura, and none of the characters from Jumanji make an appearance or are mentioned. I haven't actually seen the movie but it surely had to say it was based off a novel at the start. How did you miss that?

By the way, it's not hard to make a movie out of a 20 paged book at all, because books are much longer than that. 20 pages? That's more like a short-story.

reply

Jumanji is better...

reply

Jumanji is better! What the hell is wrong with you guys? The problem is that two different generations are arguing amongst each other. If you were born before 1992 you like Jumanji and if you were born after 1994 you like Zathura. And plus, what do little kids know? Nothing.

reply

i wasnt aware there was someone who spoke for everyone born before 1992....i was born in 74 and have never seen Jumanji (imo williams isnt a selling point)...im watching zathura right now so ill get back to yall my opnion on just this movie (which is already ahead since theres no robin williams)

reply

i liked them both alot, but i think Jumanji is a little better just because i liked how it took place the city instead of space, and i just liked the story better, it had like 2 or three stories going on at once so.....yeah

jumanji was hella better
zathura was a piece of crap

reply

never saw Jumanji all the way thru.

wife brought this movie home for the kids, and I asked her what the hell she was thinking.

I watched it and found it very enjoyable and entertaining. It helped that I fought with my brother constantly, so I could relate to the kids.

Can't believe that the older sister is only 16 in real life.

I think the older kid says he's in 4th grade in the movie and I didn't buy that at all.

On the whole, I enjoyed this and I'd watch it again. And I was born in 1961.

I loved Jumanji and I think it's a classic but I just saw Zathura this week and I loved it too. It is really hard to say which one I prefer as both were really good but I think I will stick with Jumanji, however, Zathura is better then Jamanji in some ways. I think the special effects in Zathura were heaps better than I expected.

" It helped that I fought with my brother constantly, so I could relate to the kids."

Me too. I felt that Jumanji was mostly about special effects and "wouldn't it be cool if board games became reality" while Zathura was much more character driven and dealt heavily with the relationship between the two brothers.

reply

I have to disagree with your point that Jumanji wasn't strongly character driven.
Alan Parrish being lost for 26 years while his loving father (who struggled to show his affection) searches desperately for him using all his money and time whilst the town people spread rumours about him killing his own son.

A young girl traumatised for life by seeing Alan disappear into the game.

The two orphaned children struggling to come to terms with their parents' deaths. One by acting as if she was unaffected and lying/joking about how they died and the other by staying silent around other people.

I know I've defined it in quite simple terms and it must sound very cheesy the way I've described it, but Jumanji really has a lot of (surprisingly dark and mature) character moments pinning it down. If it had a main point to take away (other than its entertainment value) it was to appreciate what you have and the repercussions of your decisions. All of the people who play the game in the film can hear the drums because they "seek to find a way to leave their world behind".

reply

I thnik Zathura is better, and even though i am 18, i think josh hutcherson is pretty funny and cute

reply

i agree with the zathura bit, jumanji was made a while back and seeing that i like special features and all that crap in movies, zathura just topped jumanji out.
well times change :) but still, i can't deny that jumanji was a great film as well, especially with robin williams ... he's the man!

reply

I got to go with Zathura. I'm 18 too, and I love Josh Hutcherson!

What if the hokey pokey is what it's all about?

reply

Im 14, and im going with Jumanji

Zathura is not a BAD movie but it couldn't hold a candle to Jumanji

reply

i am 14 & i am way goin for jumanji its so much better and was a great part of my childhood

reply

"Was" a great part of your childhood? You're still a kid!
