all black town and businesses

I wish we could have a black community like in this movie. I wish we could have a black corporate america and a black business district period. we need unity and pride and stop spending 95% of the 600-800 billion we make outside the black communities. whites let us intergrate because they didn't want to see us have anything as a people. I think we intergrated because whites had the best businesses and since we had/have the slavery mentality we were happy that white folk let us in. that was 40 years ago, we generate BILLIONS now. I'm not talking seperation, I just want us to have big businesses and people can spead with us also and not just exploit us.

or maybe, just maybe, because north america is a melting pot, you could just consider yourself equal to everyone. white, brown, yellow, pink, purple, green. skin doesnt matter. only really racist people think it does

I'm not racist just because I want blacks to own big businesses in this country. we shouldn't just be happy with being accepted in the mainstream and spending most of our money outside the black community. negroes want to be accepted, black people want to own big business and build up our comunities all over the country.

...let's just observe movies like 'Harlem Nights' and hope that the future is potentially bright.

I'm not a control freak, I just like things my way

The Eatonville in the movie existed because of restrictive laws and social customs. Black people didn't like being told where they could and couldn't live and do business anymore than White people.

The movie, hopefully, shows a historical snapshot of a time and place that doesn't exist anymore. Personally, I liked the scenes in the migrant worker camp. Where all the multi-cultural and multi-ethnic people lived together as neighbors because they were about equal social status. The influence of the mix of cultures (food, music, clothes, etc.) is what makes the United States of America unique, different from England and Australia.

Eatonville is based on the fact that Zora's father John Hurston was the town's first black mayor. Eatonville is the first black run town in America. And I think Atlanta is America's black mecca isn't it? Atlanta has a lot of black businesses and I think the mayor of Atlanta is black too.

I DON'T! I love the Melting Pot that we've got going on. All colors are beautiful but I dig the hell out of the rainbow. I would NOT want to live in a town with people of only one ethnicity, even if it is my own (Black).

Just observing as a Caribbean American: If someone who wasn't black wrote this wouldn't you of called them "racist" or "nationalist" ?

It's not O.K. to go around talking like that just because you are black. Black people act like anyone who isn't black isn't allowed to talk like this, but somehow we get the pass?

How can you demand no one else be racist but you talk like that?....Living contradictions.
