Horrible, just horrible.

I haven't posted on IMDB in more than a year. After watching this movie I was compelled to warn people against this movie. While the story is interesting, the filmmakers completely dropped the ball. The screenplay and directing are embarrassing and are an insult to the actual people involved in the story and to the audience. Stay the hell away from this movie! It's a two out of ten. Completely uninspiring and redundant. Waste of my time!

I am sorry you feel that way. There are many, many others who would disagree with you.

Roger Ebert and I disagree with you.

How very sad that you feel this way, when so many of us felt blessed to have seen the movie. While it's true that a film can rarely replace a book... I was so gratful to see the Ryan family materialize on the big screen, and relished every wonderful moment. Juilanne Moore couldn't have tried harder to perfect her role as the irrepressible Evelyn, and Woody Harrelson played Kelly Ryan with great conviction. Anyone who didn't enjoy this movie, must have missed the point! All we need now, is a stage version of this inspirational story!

I started watching the movie thinking, "This looks pretty dumb and boring but since I have nothing better to do, I'll go ahead and watch it." When I had finished the movie, I was so glad that I watched it. I thought it was a pretty amazing story and that they represented the story well. I'm kind of surprised someone could hate the movie that much... I could understand just not liking it but you seem to really hate it. You know what movie deserves to be hated? The newest Star Wars movie... It was horrible

Finally someone agrees with me. Well, I like most of the Star Wars movies. I just don't like Episode 2 and 3

You have to understand the time frame of the movie though. It would not have been right if she shot her husband. I rated this movie a 10/10 because it was so compelling. I love how they pulled her out and had her standing next to herself. I think that added to the light airy feel of the movie so it wasn't a sad drama the whole time. I actually cried at the end....this is also being written by a 16 year old for your info. I just watched it last night. I recommend this movie to everyone who can see it because people with actual emotions may find this movie just wonderful like I did.

I saw it last night ..it was really one of the most inspiring movie i have ever seen. For some reason i felt really touched when evelyn is at the super market filling all that she can....full points to the director for that ...that scene has so many layers to it. Brilliant performance by julianne moore. Anybody whose seen hardships can definitely relate to this movie better.

After a hard rain, when the sun comes out, and you walk out and see a huge muti-colored rainbow stretching across the sky over the golden glistening ground, you must look up with a scowl on your face, and bellow "GOD THAT'S HIDEOUS!"

Hilarious! lmao!!

LOLLL!!!!
Very clever.

"Do you even remember what you came here to find?"

reply

Specifically, what didn't you like about the screenplay and directing? I thought directing was brilliant. I thought it was excellent. It took you on the journey of Evelyn Ryan, causing you to forget it's just a movie. And Julianne Moore did a spectacular job as an actress in this.

My favorite movie of all-time is Chicago. I am THE number one fan.

"all of the parts where woody was screaming and freaking out and the police were completely on his side just made me sick"

HELLO...welcome to real life especially in the 50's and 60's. This may not have been your life or my life but it happened more than just in the Ryan household.

I loved this movie.
