The real prairie

Below is a picture of the prairie Laura describes in DeSmet, SD. I found it at their website. As you can see, not one of the shows has been able to duplicate it. This has always been my strongest fault with the series' as I enjoyed Lauras descriptions of it, more then anything else, in the books. Since she was trained to be "Mary's eyes" she acquired a wonderful appreciation for what she saw around her.
NOTE: This is not the view from Little House On The Prairie but of Little Town On The Prairie, a few volumes later.
