God they even stole the tagline from LHOTL!

I'm amazed Wes Craven never had anything to say about this...or if he did I missed it.

I haven't seen either film although I would like to see LHOTL...but I was just watching Bravo's annual 100 scariest movie moments special and I noticed for the first time that the tagline for Last House is "May, 17, is dying..but even for her the worst is yet to come".

Jesus, these filmmakers had balls. And not an original thought in their heads.

"What is it, Sebastian? I'm arranging matches..."

Hey yeah you're right, never noticed that.

"Mari, 17, is dying. Even for her the worst is yet to come." - LHOTL

"Angelica, Eighteen, is dying. Even for her the worst is yet to come!" - Chaos

On my Chaos DVD the only "tagline" is "The most brutal movie ever made" as opposed to the aforementioned one.

How did you buy a copy of this? Not that I'm looking to get one but I thought this film seemed to hit a few theaters, generate a lot of controversy and then it sort of disappeared (?)

I purchased it from www.xploitedcinema.com

The film has certainly copped more flack than any other I've seen on IMDB so far (minus perhaps Murder Set Pieces). As far as popularity that is, as far as "controversy" goes I really don't understand it. Generated more from the director and producer I think, as opposed to audience reactions. I know Ebert absolutely HATED it and gave it a zero star review, which resulted in a slagging match between himself and the creators.

If you're after something controversial and ultra-violent you can do a hell of a lot better than this. That said...

...Yes it is a ripoff(ish) "unofficial remake" of LHOTL but I thought it was a solid effort personally. Nothing special, but by no means "bad" IMHO. My only gripe was if it was going to get an NC-17 rating anyway (or unrated) why not pack in more gore and violence. The killing of the second girl (although creative) wasn't nearly graphic enough.

More ripped off taglines.

LHOTL- To Avoid fainting keep repeating it's only a movie, only a movie, etc etc.

Chaos- To endure Chaos keep repeating it's only a movie, only a movie, etc etc.

Wow this is an old thread! I was even quoting Stalin back then!

They probably didn't show the second girl's killing because it would have been too hard to do without CGI, and CGI would have looked like ass on the budget these people had.

A prosthetic setup would have worked to a point provided it was shot and edited accordingly.

its a remake. Idiots.

It's not a remake. I shall refrain from calling you Idiot, as I hope we can be grown ups here. It's a freaking rip off in every sense of the word. If it were a remake, there would be credit given. LHOTL trivia doesn't mean a thing. Trivia sprouts from any and every thing. Any fool can come up with trivia. Where is Craven given a single mention??? Or a nod??? And if it is indeed a "remake," it still freaking blows. Ridiculous, not scary, self-indulgent, trying to make a point that has been run into the ground and uses the warning at the beginning to excuse themselves for not having a single original thought.

"I love Ketchum, Koontz, and Lansdale. Can't do my own, and so..."

Oh, I wish I were The Last House on the Left
That is what I'd truly like to be
Cause if I were The Last House on the Left
Someone might actually be scared of me.

The credits also say "Based on an original idea by David DeFalco and Steven Jay Bernheim." Doesn't sound like they were claiming it was a remake.
