i was reading a movie trivia and it said the homeless man was mistaken for another character in the movie,, but i dont remember that? did i fall asleep or something?
shareYou may have. When Philippe reads of the murder of a vagabond in the paper, he assumes it's the one Senta was so disgusted by. He even attempts, very unconvicingly, to take credit for getting rid of him. But the interloper from Senta's house later shows up in the park and tells Philippe he was missing in action because he had been in the hospital, so Philippe pays him off and asks him to relocate.

It's actually Senta who confuses him with the guy in her yard. Philip just thinks it's some random guy.
Interesting note: Senta keeps calling him "The epitome of filth." And yet, she keeps corpses in her rooms. (The house generally isn't very clean.)
