Terrible lighting!

I was so much looking forward to watch this film, but the awful, insufficient lighting really made it hard to watch. Did Chabrol skip watching the rushes every night, did he not notice that almost every scene was filmed in the dark?

With appropriate lighting on the set this would have been an good thriller.

Other than that I liked the young actor who played the love interest of the brides maid.
And no matter what Aurore Clément is playing, she's always delightful.
Her best role was in a thrilling French 4 part TV production from the mid eighties called "Le regard dans le mirroir" which was also on German TV. Wish it would finally come out on DVD!!!
