The final 20 mins. or so were...

unbelieveably hilarious. When he starts talking about the realities of marriage he is so on the mark and he truly shows his comedic genius. I could not stop laughing. I watched it with my husband we were both just sitting there cracking up and agreeing with his insights into the life of the average American couple after married life sets in. He is great because he is honest with his comedy and people can identify with what he says about life, love, marriage, politics, racism. He is the new Richard Pryor of stand up comedy. I can't wait to see his next HBO special.

I dunno if he's the new richard pryor, he's been around a while.

before he did his best work on stage. I think what I was trying to express was that he is the most candidly funny comedian we have today. Richard Pryor wasn't afraid to make jokes about any topic back in the late 70's and 80's and now in the late 90's and since neither is Chris Rock.

Chappelles show was one of the best skit shows ever, but Rock's stand-up, at least his first two, are legendary.

I don't understand that joke can somebody please explain it to me...

reply

You are pretty dumb! He played a crack head named Pookie in the movie, New Jack City. So what he's saying is that movie came about about 14-years ago, meaning he's come a long way from that role. Goodness where have you been for the past decade???

reply

ok sorry bout that but I haven't watch New Jack City yet...

reply

That's a pretty rude response to someone who just didn't know about something in Chris Rock's past. Replace "dumb" with "ignorant" and it would make more sense, but it would still be unnecessarily harsh.

reply

Very good point.

Hysterical!! Chris Rock is always funny but whenever he starts talking about couples and relationships is when he really brings the house down. Because everything that he says is TRUE. The entire movie was a riot, especially the little rant he gave about guys addicted to strip clubs, and the comparison of churches and ATM's..I mean this guy is a genius! Bring on the next special!! I hope the next time around he doesn't take as long.

reply

Yeah, I totally got the part about NEVER, EVER going to the atm in the middle of the night for anything - "good". > : ) There should be a little psychiatrist pop up on the screent to give you a little talk when you try to pull money at 3 am. lol..

I don't have low self esteem. I have low esteem for everyone else ~ Daria :)

I also think he is not really the next Richie. Richard Pryor and Chris Rock just cannot be compared. Richard is just the greatest comedian, and I think alot of people would agree. Eddy Murphy wasn't the next Richie, neither is Chris Rock.

reply

I would have to agree that Richard Pryor was the best and the most original. When he did stand up it was just like he was talking to you about his philosophy and experience and it didn't seem to feel as if it were an act at all. I like Chris Rock but you are right Richard Pryor was the king of stand-up comedy....bottom line.

"Men you need to get up in the morning, look at yourself in the mirror and say *beep* YOU.. *beep* your hopes, *beep* you dreams, *beep* your plans, *beep* everything you thought this life was gonna bring you.. now lets go out there and try to make this bitch happy!"

Single greatest quote.. ever.

reply

LOL! Chris is pretty silly!

reply

When (if) I get married I intend to say no such thing.

reply

Getting a litle too serious over a joke, eh captain?

reply

Not at all, foxhound. It's just that every other comedian is doing a bit on the henpecked husband syndrome and frankly,I'm tired of it.

reply

I absolutely agree. My wife and I both do marriage counselling and we are going to use this material. People's disappointment that their marriage hasn't achieved their dreamy expectations is an enormous problem. Chris Rock says it all. Comedy is the gentlest way to bring people out of the clouds back down to reality.

reply

Kael, the main problem is that most people don't get PRE-marriage counseling. Also,Rock talks about how your sex life will no longer be satisfactory after marriage.First, there must be a billion married couples around the world. You can't make a judgement as to what kind of sex life a billion couples have.Plus,I wonder-could the people who wait until marriage really have it right?Chances are,Chris jumped into bed with everything that moved so when he got married, sex was no big deal. But perhaps people who wait appreciate it more and have better sex lives because they have only each other to compare it to.

I dont know where this is from but he sed it lol:

You know the world is going crazy when the best rapper is a white guy, the best golfer is a black guy, the tallest guy in the NBA is Chinese, the Swiss hold the America's Cup, France is accusing the U.S. of arrogance, Germany doesn't want to go to war, and the three most powerful men in America are named 'Bush', 'Dick', and 'Colon'."

I totally agree with you that the last 20 minutes were hysterical. I'm not married, but just by watching the audience reactions to what he was saying, you know everything he was saying was on the money. Another thing I like about Chris is that he never forgets he's a man and in every special have you noticed that he always says one thing that really offends the women in the audience and they get really quiet? You can always tell when it happens, because the men always do the dog pound "whoop whoop" and you never hear any female voices joining in.

reply

The best part was when he was talking about the black people and he was like if a *beep* could hed get rims on his toaster " look at those rims they spinnin *beep* they spinin" i like dthe whole thing

Funny as hell.. He rocked (no pun intended) it in the last 20 minutes... Even he was laughing at some of his own jokes.. His married jokes were off the chain.. I liked his joke about two married men sitting at dinner, talking about which routes they take to work.. LOL.. He sure as hell didn't paint a pretty picture of the marriage scenario..

He has replaced Sam Kinison as the funniest man in the world....RIP Sam!
