Why is it Hollywood has to remake any foreign film that has any amount of heat in it? They did it with Vanilla Sky and F* it up. They did it with The Departed and F* it up! Same with The Ring. The fact that The Departed got Scorsese an Oscar and Taxi Driver didn't is hilarious by the way. Every time Hollywood remakes something they mess it up, so as bad as this movie may be (haven't seen it yet, but will soon, that's why I came here for info) at least it's different from your ordinary Hollywood crap. Leave it at that and let Hollywood have their on ideas (if they even still can).
shareVanilla Sky was much better than Abre los Ojos. Obviously, they were almost identical, but the larger budget and better actors did it alot of justice.
I dont think this needs to be re-made...alot of people stateside wouldn't get it anyways...However, I would like to see a similar movie. SIMILAR, not the same. One thing I dont think the movie did well is character development...it was a bit hard to find the motivation for alot of things that the characters did.

The only thing I can think of is Burai being played by either Jason Bateman or John Cusak. I say Cusak since his eyelids seem kinda like the guy who played Burai in the Japanese film. Since I love Arrested Development, I think Bateman would be a good villain since he's never been in any villianous roles.
