This film is like a cheesy TV commercial

My friend and I could not stop laughing throughout the whole film, not
because we liked the film but because we found it ridiculous and
cheesy. This film is a collection of clichés and stupid jokes. Just
like a TV commercial. It is unbelievable that in the year 2006 people
still like that kind of superficial films. The most stupid commercial
American film is better than this rubbish. Such a shame for a German
guy to create a bad copy of the worst Hollywood moments.

The only film i can compare it to is Bella Martha, equally ridiculous film, which also happens to be German. I am so sorry that there are people out there who can relate to such artificial kind of art with no depth at all, films that depict real life as if it was a TV commercial for Coca Cola.

Hi Kim deal,
oh yes - Germans are totally unable to produce good films, right! Actually I'm from Germany and I LOVED this movie because it is different from most of the cheesy Hollywood productions. There are a lot of very good actors in the USA and my favorite filmstars are among them and there are only a few talented ones in Germany. One of those talented German actors is definitely Till Schweiger and he is not only a good actor because he is good-looking, cute or glamorous. He is like the nice boy from next door and it is easy to identify with him, since he appears very "real" and you get the impression that you could meet him at the train or in the bus anytime! And well as far as clichés are concerned: Do you really think that Schweiger was not aware of the fact that he was using clichès??? That's the point: He was USING them, playing around with them....! And maybe you're right - maybe his film IS a parody of cheesy Hollywood flicks!
Sorry, I did not want to insult you, but I had to say that. For me that film was brilliant! I didn't really get, why this film should be superficial..Hmm

Generally agree with original poster.
Had some good moments and could've been a lot better but ended being just overrated cliche.
If it WAS a Hollywood film it provably gotten terrible rating.

"The most stupid commercial American film is better....."

Couldn´t believe what I just read; criticising is one thing, but what you wrote sooooo disqualifies you, because of your non-exisiting knowledge of movies and obvisiously romance as well.

Talk about cheese. Well I guess "Bodyguard", "Pretty woman" or "Titanic" were so much more realistic and non-superficial.

I agree that movies like "One flew over the cuckoo´s nest" or "Memento" - just as examples - have more indepth but that would be comparing apples with pears. So, to stay with the genre I found "Barefoot" fresh and unsentimental, warm and with such a dry humour.

This movie sucked totally. Full of cliches, the story reminds me of a cheap daily-soap and the music/cut of tv-commercials.
I wouldn´t say the most stupid commercial American film is better but this movie belongs to the worst movies I saw in the last years.
btw: I´m from Germany and that´s definitely not one of the better German movies ;-)
