Eeeww. (Major spoilers)

This is supposed to be an upbeat Christmas story and a kids film.

But the major plot point about the town being anti-dog, plus what happens to the dogs turns out to be...dogfighting.

And while the girl saves her best friend's sheepdog, you can't help but know what happened to the some of the other dogs. She even sees a row of hanging collars, supposedly that belonged to missing pets, perhaps before the anti-dog ordinances were passed.

The dog catcher cuts the fence of the dog lady and lets a lot of dogs out so he can catch them.

I can't help but think that not all of the dogs were rescued. And what about the ones before the girl, boy and the adults find out what is going on and put a stop to it?

These are all questions that children watching this movie would have.

I mean, eeww. It may be historically accurate but hardly a great plot point upon which the entire movie revolves.

This entire movie made me squirm but once that plot point was revealed, it really had no saving grace no matter what. I mean you know it's going to end well but still. A cloud was over the entire movie after that.

This will NOT be on my dog movie list.
