I'm wondering how many people here secretly or not idolize John Gotti, and would you still find this show entertaining and cool if it was called 'Growing up Hendersons' or 'Growing up Fabricio'.. is the whole allure just the fact that its a family of dunce relatives of a serial killer? does anybody realize that just because he had money, doesn't mean he wasn't a serial killer? i haven't watched but one episode and i quickly felt guilty and changed the channel, could somone enlighten me as to the message , if there is one in this show? family values? christianity? hey im as twisted as the next guy but this is pushing it. and its just stupid.
You know, in USA "mafia is cool, mafia is sexy, mafia is great, "la bella mafia", "if only mafia rules Italy, Italy would be a perfect country!"" and so on...
First, I respect your opinion, so please in turn respect mine. Carmine Jr, John and Frank Agnello were not asked to be born into the Gotti Family, they should not be held reasponsible for their Grandfather's as well as father's past. Aside from that, Victoria is in the same predicament as her children, she did not ask to be born into the family she did. I for one do not Idolize John Gotti Sr, nor do I idolize anyone in the Gotti-Agnello Family. The show was the idea of Victoria herself, as well as A&E. The point, im my opinion, of Growing Up Gotti, is to show that they do are not like people think. If you honestly watch the show, or know the family, you would quickly see the differences off and on camera. The boys are not spoiled like it is on the show, Ms.Gotti keeps very close tabs on them, especially with school work. A&E only airs the 'good and juicey' material for the meer effect that people will turn around and bash the boys as well as the family. Notice how Pete ( Ms.Gotti's Brother) and Angela ( Aunt Aungel) are down to earth and you would never know they were related to the Gotti's? They aren't fake people. That whole family is not the 'spoiled, loud mouthed, obnoxious' people you see. They take pride in where they came from, they only see their grandfather/father as someone who loved and cared for them. Not as a murderer. Please don't think for one min that they don't have thier bad moments, because they do. But please, next time you want to talk about someone, make sure that you know what your talking about before doing so. But I still respect your opinion
They may not have chosen to be born as Gottis, but they sure haven't given their money back to the people, families and companies the money was stolen from either.
Without John's money they would probaly be on welfare by now.
If the Gottis were people who had any conscience at all they would not be proud to be related to a convicted mob boss.
The fact is Victoria's father (and their own father too IIRC) *killed* people. I'd find it incredibly difficult to be "proud" of someone I was related to who was in the mafia.
Like i stated They can't help who they were born to, nor should they have anything to do with what thier past holds. Why should they give back money they infact did not steal? Its still their family, and they Knew John as their grandfather, not as a murderer. Please understand that.
Its quite showing of their character that they won't give back the money and are getting famous off their last name.
They may not have stolen the money but they are *using it*. Blood money is blood money. It doesn't stop just becausde the person who stole it is in prison.
