RDB sweeps filfare awards

The Fair One Filmfare Awards, held in the city last night, was a star-studded night. The glitzy affair was attended by the who's who of the Indian film industry and witnessed the full support of the industry stalwarts such as Yash Chopra and Amitabh Bachchan.



The all-new format for the Fair One Filmfare Awards 2006 was truly outstanding and converted the usual dance and award night to a formal black-tie soiree. Many film industry analysts have applauded the Awards for its international format which is distinctive and chic. The 52nd Fair One Filmfare Awards sponsored by Elder Pharmaceutical, along with associate sponsors Bisleri and Ashrafi Finance were held on 24th February, 2007, at the Yashraj Studios in Andheri, Mumbai, exclusively for the film fraternity. The show was hosted by Shahrukh Khan, Karan Johar, Preity Zinta and Juhi Chawla.



Exclusive performances by Sridevi, Amrita Rao, Rani Mukherji, Bipasha Basu and Hrithik Roshan were recorded on the days prior to the Awards ceremony for the awards' loyal viewers. It has been touted as a not-to-be-missed show which will be aired on 25 th February, 2007 at 7.30 pm only on Sony Entertainment Television. A must watch are performances by Music Director, A.R. Rahman, which were performed live during the event..



This year, the Fair One Filmfare Awards 2006, felicitated Hrithik Roshan as the Best Actor for his performance in Dhoom:2 and Kajol as the Best Actress for her performance in Fanaa. Other Awardees include Abhishek Bachchan as the Best Supporting Actor for Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna; Konkana Sen Sharma as the Best Supporting Actress for Omkara; Saif Ali Khan as the Best Actor/Actress in a Negative Role for Omkara; Arshad Warsi as the Best Comedian for Lage Raho Munnabhai & Rang De Basanti was named the Best Film for 2006.



The Fair One Filmfare Awards were also presented to Kangna Ranaut for her Debut in Gangster.The Lifetime Achievement Awards were presented to Javed Akhtar and Jaya Bachchan. The Critics Award for the Best Actor was presented to Aamir Khan for his portrayal of DJ in Rang De Basanti & the Best Actress Awards was presented to Kareena Kapoor for her outstanding and awakening performance in Omkara



The Sony Fair One Face of the Year Award, which was introduced last year was presented by Dr. Anuj Saxena, Director Marketing, Elder Pharma and Mr. Kunal Das Gupta CEO Sony Entertainment Network to Kangna Ranaut.



Speaking about the new format of the 52nd FairOne Filmfare Awards 2006, Preity Zinta said, "Filmfare being a black-tie event is news that we completely welcome. This time it is going to be special." Adding to this, Shahrukh Khan who was also the emcee for the evening, commented, "This is a step in the right direction. Change is most essential."



Many announcements were made during the awards and the new masthead for the magazine was also unveiled. Revelry was at an all-time high and the event brought together some of the best names in the industry under one roof. It was a time for one to enjoy and savour the good things in life which definitely does not come easy to the members of the Indian film industry. Seeing them all under one roof was the greatest achievement to any spectator and the overall effect of the entire event was spectacular.
