Was Nigel defending his honor when he said the following (while in sleep) or did I totally misunderstand the scene?

its funny cause Eddie Izzard is that kinda Koala Bear the fruitcake.

Well, that's what's so crazy about it 'cause Nigel too seemed to be that kind of Koala bear ...but I was very impressed to see that when it came down to it, he was in fact a consummate gentleman.!
