Am I the only one who thought that...

This is a complete rip-off of Finding Nemo mixed with Lion King?

Why Wipe your own ass when someone can do it for you?- House M.D.

And yet you post here instead of one of those messageboards. The mind reels.

I've criticized people for doing the same thing I just did, so I apologize if I offended you. And I haven't posted on either of those boards. Neither gave me a big enough reason positive or negative to do so.

It is my opinion that The Wild sucks hard. And it isn't based on any ill will to Disney- I am a huge Disney supporter. In fact, I am a BIG fan of much of the voice talent. No, I have reasons, and though I don't want to spend alot of time, at least you will see I have thought it through and am not just saying I think it blows along the lines of any Roseanne Barr film.

-In one hand you have the very realistic appearance of the lions and other animals, yet the kooky animation of a snake being twisted around a ships wheel. Can't explain why it doesn't work for me - it doesn't.

-In comparison to Madagascar, yes the visuals are realistic (better?), but at least it (the cartoony look) worked well in MDGSAR because of the humor. In The Wild, it makes your mind try and reconcile the realism against what is really happening, and it almost gives you an aneurysm.

-Wildebeasts need to eat the heart of a lion to gain some sort of power (I admit I don't understand this plot line, but I think if that's close to it - I don't want to).

-And the game the animals are playing in the zoo? I don't know what to say.

-I love Eddie Izzard. I wish he didn't take this role.

-I don't find either funny enough or touching enough (I think due to the plot line), to make it good, BUT it is both somewhat funny and somewhat touching.

-Satanic wildebeasts? (I still can't believe it).

I hope your mind isn't reeling as much.

It's a kids movie.

"It's a kids movie."

Oh that's right - that's where I went wrong.

No, and sadly you also aren't the only one who thinks that they are the "only one". despite there already being dozens of threads with "Am I the only one...." in the title.

Anyway, if you actually saw the movie you'd realize that it has no relation to Finding Nemo at all. They find the son almost right away, and the focus shifts to the father lying about his past and having to come clean to his son. You'd also realize that the overall message is almost the complete opposite. While in Finding Nemo the message was that adults shouldn't be afraid to let their kids grow up, here it was to not force your kids to grow up.

As for the Lion King thing, I suggest everyone who thinks that go buy a dictionary and look up "homage". Oh what the hell. I'll look it up FOR YOU.

Definitions of homage:

* noun: respectful deference

For comparison,
Definitions of rip-off:

* noun: the act of stealing

ummm i liked it.

im sure ive used this arguement on a dozen different message boards before but its a bubblegum movie.

watch it enjoy it and forget it. dont try to analyse it or read meaning into it because its not about that its about the here and now when you are watching it.

my shift key is broken therefore i have no caps

I would like to call it an homage to Lion King, though it had similarities to both Finding Nemo and Madagascar.

If this is a rip off of anything, it's Madagascar. Only that in The Wild the zebra and the hippo is replaced by a koala and a snake. It's horrible how they can't come up with anything new. And Madagascar is only a year older than The Wild, and still it's _the same thing_. Omg, I say. Omg.

silje_cathrin -- And you think that within a year they wrote, animated, scored, did post production, and released a rip-off? It was clearly started at the same as MDGSGR and they waited for it to come and go before releasing it. It's not as good, that's its problem, not that it's a rip off.
