(Random) David was quite a nice guy.

Sorry, bit of a random thread.

At the poker game when Andy revealed it, he was fairly chilled and told the other two not to be mean. He was the first of them also to check on Andy the next day at work and have a proper conversation/hear Andy's side of the story properly. Also I'm not quite remembering 100% on this but wasn't he also the least reluctant to invite Andy to the poker game to begin with?

Though to counter-balance that, the other two tried to give him better advice (appearance + talking tips) while David just gave him his stash of porn. I guess to try and show him what sex should look like or whatever, but I would've probably valued the advice of the other two in the case of this movie.

He is really bitter and depressive and yet...I've always kinda really fancied his character LMAO. I REALLY don't know what it says about me as a 21 year old when he's in his mid 30s, has kinda greasy hair and bags under his eyes and is depressive and sort of lame but I've always really liked David in this movie LOL.

You like him because he's the hottest of them all and clearly is a romantic.

He gave him the porn for "inspiration". But I agree with what you're saying.

He was a nice guy. A bit possessive and creepy over his ex (seriously, if your ex has to change their numbers, their email, and move something is wrong) but over all he was a really nice guy, for all the reasons you listed. Out of the three friends, though, Cal gave Andy the best advice. Obviously, the asking questions thing backfired on Andy later on (and girls don't just want to talk about themselves) but his general approach to it was pretty spot on. Jay gave the worst advice out of them all, seriously not one piece of advice he gave was good. Dave was just gave him some porn which doesn't really help anyone (people can watch it if they want but to give it to a virgin to show him what sex is like would probably give very unrealistic expectations and in his case would probably make him more nervous) but I guess it was the gesture? But he was definitely the nicest to him so that can be excused. They generally all turned out to be wrong though because Trish fell for Andy because of him and not because of what anyone else told him to do.

Jay didn't give bad advice, Andy almost succeeded on the first club night with the blonde drunken hottie (he could have get laid easily if he wasn't that picky, but that's his choice).

Dave was quite nice, indeed but also very creepy and emotionally unstable with his stalking tendencies. Maybe Cal was the most healthiest among them, a down-to-earth and chill dude who enjoys life and women.

I thought Jay's advice was pretty bad. He suggested things that might work for a guy like him but they wouldn't work with a guy like Andy. He was the one who suggested he get waxed and he gave the more sleazy advice (picking up really drunk girls, etc.). Plus, the blonde he almost slept with on the first club night wasn't a result of Jay's advice, it was Cal that found the bachelorette party and Andy got talking to her but it wasn't him being picky that stopped him from sleeping with her it was him being an idiot and letting her drive (who let's a drunk person drive?!) and when she almost killed them both and then threw up on him he decided against the idea (which was a very good decision imo).

I definitely agree with you about Dave and Cal, though. Dave was nice but creepy and very emotionally unstable and I think Cal was definitely the healthiest out of all of them and he gave good advice.

Jay was right to get Andy to try hook up with drunk girls. Jay wasn't trying to get Andy into a relationship he just wanted him to lose his virginity.
