Cannes Cut an Improvement over the Us Release!

I am a huge fan of Donnie Darko, but am I a huge fan of Richard Kelly? Well.. back then when I saw southland tales for the first time I was shocked, like most of the people were who saw it. It was totally messy and I found myself confused. Over the years I tried to watch it again, and I never got through it again. But luckily i stumbled over the Imdb Boards here and learned about that mysterious Cannes Cut, which wasn't released till Sky Movie aired it in the Uk for a limited Time. Now you get it on the Internet if you know how.

And this Cut although it doesn't change it to an masterpiece, is much better, because it feels like a movie now. Basically it is about 15 mins longer and some scenes are structured differently. It was easier to get into the story from the beginning and scenes that where really odd before suddenly made sense. And for me personally had even some Donnie Darko glimpses in there.

I would go so far and recommend watching this cut, it still is on the Internet, just google this [Southland Tales Cannes Cut (Dark Jedi & Rev Beastly rip)] .. movieking.me is one place where you get it. The fact alone that this cut is so rare, reminds me of kubricks first film and it really would be sad if people forgett about it.. Also i would like to hear what you think about this version.

I thought the Cannes cut was radically superior.
The theatrical cut addition of the Doomsday interface - while attempting to make the film easier to understand - actually over complicates matters.

The film was much, much better in it's original cut.

Do it Doug!!!!
