Cannes Cut NOT being released per Richard Kelly but maybe Director's Cut

Hey guys. Like some of you I am a huge fan of Southland Tales and have always wanted to get the cannes cut released to DVD. I have not had the opportunity to watch this, as all the torrent sites are pretty much useless for it these days. I chose to ask Richard Kelly through twitter if this was ever a possibility to be released when he said no. There were too many unfinished CGI shots for the Cannes Cut to ever see the light of day. He did, however, mention the possibility of a director's cut being released one day. He hopes to go back and recut the film on his own terms. Not sure if this will ever come to be, but interesting to hear a little hope none the less.

this may be stupid, but i'm not even sure if i want to see a recut version of this movie. i really enjoy the theatrical cut as it is.

It had to be this way.

reply

I understand. I loved the film as it is as well but I still would like to see the version Richard Kelly wanted to put out!

Do you know anywhere to find? All the torrent sites are old as far as the cannes cut goes and will not download.

Install Vuze on your computer. Search for piratebay or kickasstorrents (proxy) on your computerss web browser (chrome, safari, firefox etc)
Once in, search for 'Southland Tales Collection'. It includes the theatrical and Cannes cuts as avi's. Plus the graphic novels.
Click on the magnet icon and the torrent will start downloading in Vuse.

Any questions?

Also look for darkjedi, that's the version i have.

Its still up for download, if you search for the Southland Tales collection, which has the cannes cut included!

Does the "Cannes Cut" include English subtitles for Bai Ling's dialogue?
That's the main improvement I need.

I came across a torrent which said Cannes Cut. As this is my first time watching this, should I watch the Theatrical Cut first?

Id say, read the comics. Then watch the theatrical cut, then watch the Cannes Cut.

Reading the comics first is really important.
