Were the resident bullies Lash and Speed intended as an intentional homage to the characters of Bulk and Skull from Power Rangers? Because I can't help but notice they look and act very similar and fill more or less the same role (high school bullies who pick on superheroes).

Very true. Good catch. Definitely remind me of Bulk and Skull.

I did get that vibe.

Although on a separate note, It seems Bulk & Skull did somewhat evolve on the show and kept staying in new version of Power Rangers. I wish they could have been Power Rangers at the end.

Since the movie is supposed to be an homage/pastiche of a various superhero properties, I'd think the bullies where their way of referencing Power Rangers.

I've never watched Power Rangers but they could have been homage to those two villains from power rangers.
