are you people kidding me?????

The writing in this movie was horrible! the dialogue is unrealistic and the story is unbearably slow. and a "nobody cares production"? wow!
the only thing that held the dialogue up was the acting. why is nobody attacking this movie?

reply

I agree I thought the movie was incredibly boring...it was all shot in one room pretty much. I thought the dialogue was jumbled not to mention the "bite scene." I didn't even realize he had attacked her, just silly. I can't believe people are calling this movie timeless.

reply

You should research movies before you attack them. The guy who made this movie had an insanely small budget. Yeah maybe it was slow but look what the guy did with $20,000. Ive seen worse movies with huge budgets. I thought it was an interesting movie. Not the greatest movie ever, but worth my time. Id like to see what you could do with $20,000. Most people wouldnt even make it through pre-production.

if one is going to do a horror movie with such a low budget, they need to be a little more creative. one can do a horror movie without GREAT effects and a lot of money. this movie was something that could have been made better with a big budget, but they didn't have a BIG budget, so don't do it! a little more creativity, better dialogue, talent and better ideas could make a movie with a small budget a pretty good movie. so they didn't have a great budget, get over it!
this movie could have been better with some better creativity. i'm sure they could have done it.

reply

Where did you hear he had a 20,000 budget? I'm pretty sure he had a bigger budget than 20k.

And I think a lot of people could make something, "Not the greatest movie ever, but worth my time" for 20k. Desperado was made for 7k.

reply

I like the dialogue.... they are stuck in a unrealistic situation

reply

the movie is slow, but interesting. I would recomend the film highly.

this film is REALLY slow. i don't know HOW it got onto blockbuster shelves.

BUT, i do think it is a good idea. i just wish that they could have taken a different approach to putting it out there. there are many different ways that a director can put out an idea. they don't need lots of special effects or the sort.

just look at the blair witch project. really cheap, but well done.

i think it could have been done better.

"Ah, Mr. Seltzer?"
"Ah, it's Setzer."
"No...I think it's Seltzer."
Sigh."Waddya want Homer..."

reply

i just think that there are better ways to creep out an audience. if they didn't have much of a budget, then they shouldn't hav3 pretended to. i think that they should have spent more on a better script and better acting. i think that they just had the wrong mind set for this.

"Ah, Mr. Seltzer?"
"Ah, it's Setzer."
"No...I think it's Seltzer."
Sigh."Waddya want Homer..."

reply

i think that they also could have come up with a better name to match the story of the film. it seems almost as if they just came up with that name "shadows of the dead" because it sounded cool and because it might have caught people's attention. i hate when they do that. they do that a lot with novels too.

I concur about this movie being terrible. In fact, I'd go as far as to say that this is the worst movie I have ever seen. Ever. It was so bad, I got ovarian cancer from it, and I'm a guy. It is so bad that some friends and I created a movie where we were tracking down the people who made this film and killed them. I hate this movie. I hate Carl Lindbergh.

reply

This really wasn't the best movie ever, but it wasn't nearly as terrible as some I've seen. The dialogue (to me at least) was only unrealistic at the beginning, and near the end it got a little bit better. The only thing I couldn't stand about this movie was the title. It had absolutely nothing to do with the film content.

I think that this film has its flaws, but what film doesn't? It is at least a relatively fresh look at zombies - no running away from them, just the slow change into one.

If you knew time as well as I, you wouldn't dream of wasting it.

reply

This was absolutely lame s**t. The car gets a flat tyre. They see a dead body. Okay, let's sleep in the car. At that point I would have ridden the rim to get to the cabin. Or the hell out of there. They are attacked by zombies. Okay, let's run into the woods, and STOP. Pathetic. Truly pathetic. This talentless film-waster should give up. As Hitchcock said, there are three things you need to make a good movie - a good script, a good script, and a good script. Don't bleat about having a limted budget, etc... work on the script. That comes for free. This was absolute garbage, an insult... and by the way, the woman was horrible - selfish - she wouldn't give up a freedom fry! - and foul haircut. She deserved her brains on the wall. No more Lindbergh, no more.

reply

I will agree... the girlfriend was really selfish. I wouldn't have made my boyfriend go check noises, that's for sure.

"On the list of things that are not ok, that is really not ok!"

well, in retrospect i see that this was an independent film, i just don't know how it got on blockbuster shelves...

I thought the lead actor did a great job, especially considering the storyline he had to work with. The lead actress sucked so hard it sounded like someone left the vacuum on. Pure crap.

This is not a horror film. I don't know what genre I would shove this into, but it doesn't deserve to be in horror. And I respect indie filmmakers with small budgets. But the size of the budget is no excuse for poor writing and not hiring capable actors.

Yes, Blockbuster is noted for having such high standards...

I love this movie. I agree with a previous poster who said this was not a movie about people running to save themselves from the zombies... this was a movie about a couple who were on a slow descent into changing into the undead. I also think that Jonathan Flanigan and Beverly Hynds did a terrific job in the film. They seemed that comfortable enough with each other as actors which convinced me that they had been together for years. The title is fine, and the script was terrific. I thought the slow pace of the film was close to real life and that’s also something I appreciated.
