I found this movie to be really great. It depicts a summer afternoon of ordinary middle class people in India. The pace of the movie is slow and the lead actors "stammer" when talking because that is the whole idea.
The movie aptly captures the kind of converstaion 2 estranged lovers can have if they meet after a period of time under the given circumstances. In real life we do not rehearse our lines, so the "speaking in installments" fits well especially if what we are saying is all a big lie.
Given their situation, they would not break into a song, they could not rekindle their lost lost again, they would not have much action in the house in one afternoon. Because that's real life for ordinary people -- a little boring, routined, with slow conversation rather than crisp one-liners.
Apart from these things, I was impressed with the placing and setting of the room, Ajay Devgan's aparent discomfort during the meeting, Ash's wardrobe, and her constantly fanning herself.
If you could walk into a house in Calcutta on a summer afternoon, you would find the same scene, similar looking people discussing a different story of their own lives.
