One small observation, the Mannu coments about Neeru's expensive saree which she is wearing at home.... If she is very poor, how is she managing to wear expensive saree at home? This issue has not been clarified in the movie? By the way, why was she shown in a silk saree in the first place?

She took time to open the door, even after she had seen Ajay Devgan knocking. We will have to assume she used that time to wear a silk sari and yet look like she had been woken from her siesta. The motive behind wearing an expensive saree would be clear to all those who have seen the movie.

Neeru is living a make believe life. It can be from the costume from the Drama Company. The way she has borrowed the utensils, (remember the finger bowl scene), it can be that she has borrowed that too.
Yes I agree the plot is weak, when the landlord is allowed inside the house, and subsequent giving away all the money that Mannu has without any viable proof, something which is hard to digest.
because she belogs to Bhagalpur which is a silk city(u can say it was as, now Chinese silk and lack of electricity has almost ruined the silk industry.
it can be assumed that saree was given from her family in her marriage ceromony as it is common practice in hindu culture. in bhagalpur silk saree is always given to daugbter eveb if family is poor
and also she wanted to show the hero(ajay devgan)that she is rich, and living comfortable life
