i have "sahib biwi aur gulam" it is based on a bengali novel. devdas was based on a bengali novel. both these were excellent. and if i am not wrong "pyasa" was also based on a bengali novel. bengali literature is one of the greatest. we as indians are proud of it.
shareYeah Pre independence Bengali literature was great .Infact stalwarts liek sharatchandra have been read more widely in Hindi thorugh translation than original hindi authors liek Premchanda.
