Why isnt there any trailer, website, marketing of any kind???

Why isnt there any marketing, trailer, website, advertising or press coverage of any kind for this great film which is supposed to open on St. Patrick's Day. Why is everybody connected with this film asleep at the switch. It has a terrific cast and is hilariously funny. Doesn't Mr. Bridges have enough clout in the industry to get this film in the face of the public??? There seems to be an ad for Steve Martin's "Pink Panther" on every street corner. What an absolute travesty and a sure way to make Peter Sellers roll over in his grave. Why is the "Moguls/Amateurs" treated like the relative everyone wants to forget??? There should be a tremendous press campaign for this great film. I have seen it twice and couldn't stop laughing. Bridges should finally get his Oscar and Joey Pantaliano should get a best supporting nod. Please get the press campaign rolling and let the public know what a great film is opening on March 17th.

I appreciate your 2/1/06 post, but now the 3/17 "limited" release is less than 4 weeks away, with still no trailer, no gallery, no advertising of any kind for this great film. The film is not even included with IMDB's 3/17/06 so-called "limited releases". Why is this great film with its great cast being pushed under the rug?? I would appreciate your response. Joey Pantiliano's performance alone is worth the price of admission.

My hand on a bible, I swear Jeff Bridges is one of my favorite actors. He is an immense talent. But I have to say that 'The Moguls' just isn't that great. Maybe I was having an off day or something. Yikes! But maybe the reason there aren't a lot of marketing efforts is because the folks 'upstairs' kind of figure it isn't going to pay off down the road? I feel awful about saying so, but this movie was kind of flat, and kind of lame. It seemed 30 years old, and more like a TV movie--- and a WEIRD TV movie at that. I can't explain how that happened. But that might explain the low profile to date, marketing-wise. ???

Clearly the studio hates this film. Why have they changed the title so late in the day? Why else would it have come out in Britain first? Why else would I have heard a spot for it on DVD on the radio yesterday before it's even come out in the US? They're embarassed by their 'film about porn' and they want to drown it no matter how good it might be. Unless I'm wrong obviously. Perhaps I'm just irritated at having missed it in two countries.

I live in Edinburgh (Scotland) and I've already seen it on DVD - found it at a video & DVD rental place which in fact specialises in rare and not-so-easily-found films.

There's actually a few copies of the trailer online. The first I loaded was streaming only (and was hidden by XML) but with persistence I managed to download the 1m:50sec trailer (as per the UK DVD) from another site.

I've uploaded it here. Enjoy!

Okay, this may not be the "decent" way to go but it's available for download on mininova.org. I'm tired of waiting for this film to hit the theaters or DVD shelves, so I'm downloading as I write.

First of all RLONEILL I have to say this movie is a piece of trash and what do you call OSCAR material....this movie is HORRIBLE and you won't see any trailer on this as this probably WON"T be released!!!

reply

Second of all BRADPITTSBODYGUARD I have to say that not everyone agrees with you and what you call OSCAR material....this movie is FUNNY and probably WON"T be released because the MONEY men in the business are too busy pushing tripe like LIVE FREE OR DIE HARD and vapid remakes.

Just saw this funny movie with great actors and as a longtime Lauren Graham/Jeff Bridges fan I was wondering the same you did. No promotion, no interviews to promote... weird
