What Was It? (SPOILERS)

After his porn film got destroyed at the bar, Bridges goes to Fugit and he says he recorded everything on some type of cheap tape or something. They edit it and get some financial backing and it becomes some kind of success. My question-what the hell was on the tape that anyone would want to see it? Who'd want to pay money and go to a theater to see this motley group? Do you think there waas some kind of great documentary there? 'Cause I sure didn't. Think that was just thrown in just to give it an upbeat ending (like too many films today).

I think I may be beginning to disappear. Away From Her

the whole making of the porn became this great movie... and in contrast the movie we watched was simply that... so as we didn't see any nakedness, the movie in the movie that became succesful didn't have any nudity either.. so it became succesful...

Confucius says

The journey is frequently more interesting than the destination.

So, telling the story of how the porno movie was made,
is more interesting than the porno movie.

Very Zen like.

Although I was really expecting to see some naked chicks,
like Valerie Perrine, Lauren Graham, or Jeanne Triplehorn.

but nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

I only get to see Ted Danson's butt.

While he is playing a gay man trying to prove he is not gay,
by getting it on with Valerie Perrine in front of a camera.

Which I would have been happy to do but no one asked me.

Stupid producers!

reply

In short, the movie you watched is the movie they made.

Btw does anybody know of any other movies similar to this? Similar comedies? And no, I don't mean Zack and Miri. But you know, similar comedic movies.

reply

Similar in which way?

reply

similar in that it is a small independent film?

Similar in that it is an ensemble cast?

Similar in that it is about making a porno movie?

Similar in that it is funny, touching and irreverent?

Similar in that hardly anyone knows about this movie?

I don't know if this fits all the criteria, but I would recommend "Jump Tomorrow". It is not an ensemble cast of well known actors or about making a porno per se, but it shares many of the other qualities.

Emmet also had tons of tapes of the townspeople just being themselves (eg.
"Otis Drunk In Street") that had nothing to do with making the film. He got the blank tapes for so cheap he was always shooting video.
