this move was awesome!

i dont get why no one likes this movie. its great. you just need to treat it as a comedy.

Well I understand what your saying but....The reason no one really liked it was well it sucked.Everyone knows bruce is capable of much more.I know he has done some goofy movies before but he has also done some great movies. He is a great actor and should try to get better parts or just dont do bad movies. The costumes were awful,The hair and beards were just way to bad.Bruce ofcourse carried the movie but it was just done badly by sci fi.Cant blame bruce for that but I hope he was paid well enough to do such a bad movie.Bubba ho-tep was low budget but look how awesome of a movie that was.Different movies but you can make a great movie with a small budget if you just take a minute to actually give it some thought.

Thank you....Thank you very much,

Actually, the first Evil Dead was supposed to be serious, too. It was just so cheesy that it was funny and the sequel was made a comedy. Maybe that's what they were going for in AA but you can't fake that sort of thing. I've only watched 15 minutes of it so far and am trying to decide if I should watch the rest or play video games.

i think the reason some of you dont like the movie is because your just too stupid to realize when thing were supposed to be jokes.

Actually, this films wasn't made to be "serious". Josh Becker stated himself that the film is supposed to be "silly".

And if you are going to say that he is just saying that now because people don't like that film...I'll save you the trouble.

Josh would never act like that, it's not in his personality. He sticks by everything he believes no matter how much fire he comes under.

You just took the movie way more seriously than intended. It had plenty of Bruce Campbell moments. For example, him getting tired of the slaves shouting "The President lives!"all the time. Bruce Campbell is not all about physical comedy, which is all you listed above. It's the way he performs his parts that makes it "what Bruce Campbell is about." If you cut out all of the physical comedy aspects of "Army of Darkness" it would still be funny. For example, is "Get the *beep* out of my way..."a funny line? Hell no. But listen to how Bruce Campbell delivers it near the end of the film...I laugh my ass off at it everytime, but it is in no way physical.

Just because AA doesn't have a buttload of physical comedy in it doesn't mean it's taking itself seriously, it just means it doesn't have a buttload of physical comedy in it.

You really are pathetic. I didn't know people weren't allowed to have opinions or appreciate someone elses work and defend it when necessary. I'm sure you would act the same way for directors you admire.

I am also a big fan of William Wyler, David Lean, Sam Raimi, Stanely Kubrick, Francis Ford Coppala, Orson Welles, Woody Allen..to name a few.

No, I don't know Josh personally, but from what I've derived from reading his responses to fans that's what I believe in my own personal opinion.

And so what if I am a "fanboy"of Josh's? That doesn't mean I will like every single movie he ever comes out with. In fact his first feature length film "Thou Shalt Not Kill...Except" isn't that great of a film. Sure it's a pretty good story, it's just that it was too big of a movie that required money that he didn't have. The movie just comes off like a cheap Troma flick. Sure it's fun to watch, but is it a good movie? Not really.

I love how you make assume so many things and are so sure that they are true because you think them.

This movie was awsome I just finished watching it again. I taped it and paused out the commercials. I hope it comes to DvD Bruce was so funny I love the last scene when they show a close up of his face as hes stabbing the alien I was cracking up. This movie was just so good all together. It had a little bit of gore, comedy, drama what else could you ask for. Oh yea and that girl in it that got raped was hot.

I loved this movie with every part of my body (including my pee pee).

Seriously, folks, this was an amazingly terrible movie. I mean... holy crap. As such, I enjoyed it very much. Pretty much every amazing medical marvel was awesome. THERE, NOW YOU ARE TALL!!!

Also, one of the better, more outrageous lines of the year came from this horrible piece of garbage. When the extremely old and somehow disturbing man tells the doctor that he is the oldest person in the camp, the doctor asks how old he is... "37." GENIUS!!!

Seriously, this was an amazingly terrible film.

I thought this was a cool movie! ...the graphics DID suck, but anywho, I liked it better than "Bubba Ho-Tep." ...(I'm not saying B.H.T. sucks, it's a great movie too!! ...I love Bruce Campbell!!)

Kudo's to BandDrumMajor - you have just experienced what's called Internetus Opinionitis: 5 billion people in the world, 2.8 million of them watch and enjoy something, and 3 or 4 *handles* type something onto the internet, claiming to be definitive judgments, and representing everyone else. And people who *like* it then are hesitant to say so, because they know that anyone mean enough to attack a film, might attack them too.

So good on ya for not being fooled. This was the most successful film in Sci-Fi's history. The people who don't like it can always go watch "Ellen" on Oxygen. I can outrun them! :P

joxerfan, thanks for your comment, it really means a lot to me coming from someone who primarily comments on the Alien Apocalypse message board! People like me, who somewhat like this movie, are not hesitant in arguing with A.C. haters because we're afraid of them being mean, but because I'm not trying to make anyone like the movie. I respect people's opinions and can care less what rating imdb.com viewer's gives it. When I comment, I just hope that it might help someone's decision in watching the film.

Yeah, it was a comedy alright. :)

You're a dork. It sucked. I was laughing my head off at the goofy and horrible script. Come on, can't the writer think of anything better than WOOD?? STUPID STUPID STUPID

reply

yeah, this movie was pretty damn funny

reply

Was it full of plot holes? Yeah. Were most of the other actors poorly dubbed Bulgarians in bad fright-wigs? Unhappily so. Did the whole damn mess just sort of fall apart in the last third, if not before? Regrettable but true. Were the CGI apparently done on a Commodore 64 with severe depression? You betcha.

Okay, kids, here's the point: it ain't the number of stars it rates, or the awards it wins, or even if it's actually any good (it isn't). What matters is, would I watch it again? Yep.

Even if only for the campfire scene.

Yep, and his movie is going to get aired again in about three weeks, meaning that another big fat residual check will come in to his bank account. And it has every likelihood (being scheduled to air in a primo time slot - 7 PM on Saturday) - of beong one of the top ten - AGAIN - for the network.

And then the dvd release will happen about 3-4 weeks after that - and every Blockbuster store, every Pic-a-Flic, every grocery store and bait-and-tackle-shop that has movies for rent, everyone of these that buys a copy, will have a little bit of their $$ go into a series of big fat royalty checks that go into his bank account.

And while the millions of people who enjoyed the film watch it again and again ...you can be safe and secure in your knowledge that you know the real deal. Only you know the truth - that the director is a hack, and it's all a conspiracy, to give $$ to him that should be going to people you like better.
But that's OK - you alone, and only you know the truth - and the millions of fans are wrong. You're Yertle the Turtle, the King of the Pond.

That's one bonus about this film - not only can it be enjoyed, but we can imagine people like this cringing at every bit of national media attention it gets. It PO's people who desperately need to be PO'd - and that in itself is a wonderful revenge, in a "Revenge of Lard@ss Hogan" sort of way.

In realted news, over 150,000 advance orders of the dvd have been placed...and the director has his first book on film-making coming out just in time for the holidays.

Can we say..... discredited? :P

Ok, as it is 4am I don't feel like typing a whole new post out, so I'm going to paste the one I just posted in the Josh Becker thread. Ignore the parts about "Hollywood jail" as they pertained specificly to the other thread. However, do take note to the portion of this post that discusses the problems that occured during the production of this movie. Enjoy!

Have you seen his other films? Have you been to his website and read his making of Alien Apocalypse essay?

Didn't think so.

I don't think Josh can legally be thrown in Hollywood jail as he is not a part of Hollywood and actually speaks out against it quite openly.

Who would want to make movies Hollywood wants anyway?

F u c k that! Josh makes the kind of films he wants and just because Tom Cruise isn't in them jumping up on couches or Keanu Reeves isn't running around pretending to be smart, doesn't make them trash.

Josh was on a limited budget with this film. Working in a foreign country that is just getting over communism. He didn't get the makeup artist he wanted. He went to Bulgaria believing there would be English speaking actors. However, when he arrived he only found Bulgarian actors who could speak english very badly. Which explains the horrible dubbing.

The script is actually a damn good script and I bet that had it been made by some true hack like Tarantino or Spielberg...you fanboys would be nutting all over the place in praise.

And don't start singing that "I judge a movie by what I see on the screen" bull s h i t. Because a movie doesn't magically appear. A lot goes into a movie and when there is a limited a budget the movie doesn't always turn out to be exactly what was envisioned.

So before you start spewing crap like ,"Throw him in Hollywood jail!" try to understand what went into a movie. Oh, and also explain why you disliked it. I'm sorry, it sucked just isn't good enough.

Here is why I like the film: The script was very well crafted. It had a theme and a clear main character. The main character also had a point. It also had irony, which most films these days lack. The irony was a doctor, who heals, ends up leading a revolution against the 'mites and killing them. Also, it was damn funny and despite the horrible dubbing, has some pretty good perfomances. Especially from Bruce and Renee.

There, those are a few reasons I liked the film. I don't watch a Josh Becker film expecting Shakespeare. I watch a Josh Becker film to get what Hollywood doesn't offer anymore, an intelligent story.

"i dont get why no one likes this movie. its great. you just need to treat it as a comedy."

That wasn't funny? The problem with this movie was that it couldn't decide if it was a total cheesefest (Evil Dead/Army of Darkness) or serious "save the human race" sci-fi movie (Planet of the Apes), tried to do a little of both, and failed at both.
