Kind of silly to refer to this as a Yugioh rip-off (if people still do)

I was a fan of this when it was on, but was too immature to coherently and honestly defend it. I have no idea if I'd still like the show now, or not.

I admit that there are similarities to Yugioh, the most obvious being the "Magical Cards", but that is used in a lot of mangas/animes and Yugioh was not the first to use this storyline/trope.

The biggest defence though, is that Duel Masters is meant to be a parody show, so any similarities to Yugioh or any anime/manga should be taken as such. I haven't seen this for ages, but I distinctly remember that all or many of the tropes and clichés of anime/manga are purposely overused in this show - it's anime making fun of itself, not anime stealing from other animes.

I realize this is a bit random, as this may be a forgotten show to most, but I was reminded of it recently, so I thought I'd say what I should have said back then.
