Portrayal of Caril Ann Fugate

While watching this film a few months back I noticed that it was about the exact same thing as a movie I saw as a kid on television. I did a bit of research on imdb and believe the film was "Murder In The Heartland". However, in "Starkweather", Caril Ann Fugate is portrayed as a willing accomplice, and in "Murder In The Heartland" she is portrayed as a hostage fearing for her life and begging Charles Starkweather to stop killing people, but with Starkweather seeing her as an accomplice.

To believe her or the evidence...

She was in the end convicted so they did see her as ultimately culpable to some significant degree.

And to think she has been released from prison! Unbelieveable...

She should have been fried right along with him!

What a lot of people don't realize is that she was a 14 year old kid. And there was no evidence that she killed anyone. What she was convicted of was the fact that Charlie (while holding a gun) told Robert Jensen to give her his wallet, then told Caril to take the money and then give the wallet back. Because of that she was convicted of murder during the commission of a robbery. I don't think she actually killed anyone herself, she maintained her innocence, and has stuck to the same story for almost 50 years. Charlie on the other hand kept change his story. First, he made it known that she didn't take any part in the killing, but when he found out she said he held her hostage, he changed his story saying she killed all the women.

Much like the David Ludwig & Kara Beth Borden story. She didn't kill anyone, her boyfriend did, she just lucky that she didn't get railroaded.

Why this movie portrays Caril as a willing accomplice, they're probably just going by popular belief. Hell the DVD cover pictures the guy playing Charlie with blue eyes and dark hair. The real Charlie had green eyes and red hair. Fairuza Balk who played Caril in murder In The Heartland think caril was innocent, and so does Tim Roth, who played Charlie. I think Tim Roth said it best when he said "you're looking at a girl who's 14 years old, scared out of her mind. When someone with a gun shoots someone in the head and then tells you to do something, you do it."

As for the other two posts in this thread, you people need some serious help.
