C'mon guys,I saw the Korean version first but still liked this version
I hope people stop dissing this movie for not being as good as the Korean version...
When a remake is made, its done to reach those audiences who havent seen the original version...I bet many people who havent seen the Korean one would have loved this...
For starters, the movie had to be adapted not ripped off from the original.. USA and Korea has different culture and what seems normal in one country looks wrong in another..
Take this movie for example, the boy is shown as a total loser who is beaten and teased by everyone ..I dont think the only time American audience are ok with such a person is when Adam Sandler plays and that too in a gross comedy
The girl literally toys with the boy, beating him, harassing him, humiliating him...In USA,that might have landed her in jail...
The girl in Korean one never tells about her boyfriend till the end but in american one,he knows it in her first few meetings but doesnt know he's dead...
The slapping in the train looked borderline abuse but in American one,it was friendly fight between two lovebirds or else someone might have called 911..
So next time, when you see a remake, watch with an open mind..
Because if the remake is too close to original, then you would accuse the director of being lazy
and if its too deviated,u would complain that the soul of the movie is lost
