Mary Ann is a judgemental jealous controlling b*tch.

I guess that makes me judgmental as well but my goodness what was her problem? That was rhetorical.

Additionally, I think Sara was a better match for Brad than Kathy. Sara looked up to Brad. She loved him for who he was. He could be himself with her. He was never good enough in the eyes of Kathy. Brad was very unhappy in his martial relationship.

Finally, Sara was a terrible mother. Why did she even bother getting pregnant? That was rhetorical.

At first, you would think that Mary Ann is over-written and over-acted as such a nasty character - gossipy, judgmental, over-controlling -- but, alas, I've met a few Mary Anns in real life. They exist. I wonder why. Something about their upbringing.

Its a sad truth -- definitely in a ton of movies and love songs , but also certainly in real life -- that you may find the person who " fits you" better AFTER you have married someone else. The Bridges of Madison County comes to mind, as does the dilmemma: stick to your marital partner? Or move on?

While trying to decide, Sara and Brad do that other thing that people do: have a mad, passionate sexual affair...
