Confusing ending (possible spoiler)

I thought that this was one of the best gay interest short drama's I have ever seen. A beautifully acted and told story which captures the confusion of adolesence and the characters brilliantly, but i was left completely and totally baffled by the ending.

All I remember is that they were camping, then the next morning one of the guys wakes up and the other is not there, then someone else turns up. Can anyone tell me what actually happened or what its all supposed to mean? I am really confused.
