If she was supposed to be possessed, why was she seeing demons?
There's a moment where she sees demonic faces on passers-by. I thought the demon was supposed to be in her, so why would she see the faces of others morphing into demons?

shareProbably the demon(s) inside her were making her see those things.

That was her pre possession state. Remember later they said that her actual possession took place at the University hospital, where the demons overcame her.
shareShe really had psychosis, along with epilepsy, which causes hallucinations and that would make her see demon faces on others. That's the whole point of this movie- do uou believe in science or demons. I'm gojng with science everytime.
shareBut not spell check obviously.
shareOh definitely agreed on the rational explanation, that's what I think is particularly dangerous about this movie - that it should slanted in favour of a demonic explanation instead of being outright condemned as ignorant, inhumane, and ultimately fatal thinking. My question was meant from a theological standpoint.
shareExactly. She was not fully possessed yet. She was very briefly possessed at the end of that scene, when her boyfriend walks in on her in the church.
Her full possession happens later. Until then, the demons tortured her & gained strength from her terror & anger.
I'd say this cloud is Cumulo Nimbus.
Didn't he discover America?
Penfold, shush.
There are many demons. Demons can make you see things too. I believe it was the demon in her making her see things. Demons are here to lie and destroy. What better way to destroy a mind by making it see things that are not there.
shareThere are 3 stages of Possession. Infestation (when it shows up and grabs hold) Oppression(this is when the demon breaks down the spirit) and Possession(when it takes control)
The was in the Oppression stage. That's why everything was loud, she was seeing things, couldn't eat. It was making her life hell to weaken her. Sort of the same thing that happens in any abusive relationship. Jerk Face shows up, convinces Not Jerk Face that they are no good and have no options and nowhere to go. Then Jerk Face is in charge.
Hope that helps :)
