Was it Lista or Augustine who survived?

I believe it was Augustine who survived the Nazi massacre, and through her grief or dementia, took on the identity of her sister, Lista. Here are some reasons:

Augustine could have survived a shot to her pregnant belly, a shot that could have killed the unborn child. What reason could there be for Lista surviving?

Augustine looked at Jonathon as a person who has just seen a long-lost love.

The surviving sister wore a shawl that looked similar to a shawl that Augustine wore in the photo.

I'm not sure about the sheets hanging in the yard, but they seemed to symbolize a maternal gesture, or someone who is longing for that life, grieving a child.

Augustine and Jonathon have common traits in collecting and vegetarianism, as grandmother and grandson may have.

I love this version of the story. Her encounter with Jonathon brings purpose to her lifetime of honoring Safron and their lost world.
