RED SOX=YANKEES

Sorry guys, but you are now one of them. An evil empire unto themselves. You complain about the yankees buying a championship but look at yourselves. I myself am a Twins fan. A real David to the Eastern Goliath's. Talking about Red Sox and the Yankees. Instead of adding players we see our favorites leave town for bigger pay checks. Just watch Torri Hunter in the coming months and Johan Santana next year. Basically im telling you guys to shut up about hating the yankees cause you are the yankees.

I hate to break it to you, but the Yankees will probably steal away both Torii Hunter and Johan Santana in the offseason this year.

The Red Sox, won't be doing any of that crap.

Yes, the payroll is high, but the team is by no means an "All-Star Assembly of Players with No Chemistry".

It's an actual team.

And the kind of arrogance that comes with being the Yankees (26 Championships) is not something the Red Sox (or any other team) could come close to exhibiting.

I feel your pain in having to watch players leave town to go to bigger teams.

Even the year that the Red Sox won, we ended up losing Pedro Martinez, Derek Lowe and Orlando Cabrera. . . We would go on to lose even more over the years.

This year (2007), there are only 7 players left from that 2004 Team Roster.

Instead of crying about your players leaving town, you should pray to get an owner who is more committed to winning than to making a profit.

The A.L. Central was wide open this year.

The Indians won your division, for Christ's sake.

The White Sox and Tigers were nowhere to be found.

You want heartbreak? Try being a Orioles fan.

But, please, stop whining about how high the Red Sox payroll is, because, as high as it is, it's still only 60% of the Yankees' payroll.

And payroll means nothing if you don't have heart.

Just ask the Yankees (and the Colorado Rockies, who surprised everyone by sweeping their way to the series this year).

P.S.: There's no crying in baseball!

The Red Sox do have veteran players that get paid a lot of money but this year they had young, rookie players that contributed to the team.

And you can't blame the Red Sox. I don't understand why some of these owners buy a team if they aren't willing to spend money to make the team better.

Go Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics, and Bruins!!!
And of course the BC Eagles!!!!

Im sorry, but the whole we only have 60% of the budget of the yankees case your making is retarted. That budget doesn't include the 51 MILLION you guys paid just to talk to Dice-K. Add that to your bottom line and the yearly budget comes out about the same. And that 60% is 110% more then the Twins roster. Its because of the Red Sox and Yankees paying their players so much that other players expect the same salary. Therefore any talented player a Minnesota, Kansas City, Florida... ect. has, will be gone shortly after for the New York, Boston, LA teams of the world. Until there is a true salary cap those big teams will be hated by all others, as will their fans.

97busch,

You root for a mid-market team dude.

Boston, NY, LA, Chicago. Your just talking about more people and therefor more tickets sold and advertising/merchandising dollars.

And your argument is based on the idea that the poor Twins are the model of baseball operations, which it's obviously not. They do a good job developing kids but refuse to pay any money at all for quality offense and untill they do that, they will not get over the hump. The Twins have the money bud, they just choose not to spend it. But who knows, I hear they are finally getting the new ballpark, and that might creat some new cash flow.

And i'm really tired of explaining the whole posting fee idea to people. The Sox paid 51 million not only to speak to Matsuzaka, but establish the brand in Japan. To sell Red Sox t-shirts in Japanese both here and in Japan and get Japanese companys to advertise with the team. And since that money doesn't go to player, it's not payroll money 97busch.

I understand your frustration about losing players to major market teams. But your owner over there could improve the team if he wanted to, he doesn't. It's just population distribution man, and hating Boston or Chicago or La fans is just pissing up a rope. It's always okay to hate the yanks though.

I understand everything your saying. My point is that the economics of baseball are skrewed up. Football is the only sport that has it right. A stern salary cap supports parity and gives every team the chance to win. Maybe there should be a cap in baseball, but it may also need a minimum. Teams like Florida who dont want a payroll over 30 million hurt the league just as much as the Yankees spending 200 million.

I would like to see that also. Within 10 years we'd have to spend huge money on G.Ms though. Who can build the best team on a level playing field.

Well, I don't know if you have been following the news lately, but it looks like Johan Santana could finally be gone.

Your beloved Twins have pretty much given him away for a half-way decent outfielder and 3 prospect pitchers.

If you had made the deal with the Yankees, you could have gotten two future stud pitchers in Philip Hughes and Ian Kennedy.

If you had made the deal with the Red Sox, you could have gotten a young "World Series Tested" workhorse in Jon Lester, and possibly even "the Next A-Rod" in Jacoby Ellsbury.

You can no longer blame either the Yankees or the Red Sox for the Twins' failures.

They were each willing to trade, but the Twins declined to pull the trigger.

And now they are going to give up a Cy Young award winner . . . for nothing.

Smooth move.

Ian Kennedy was never Part of the deal. Before you go bashing someone get your facts straight. Also, we were holding out for Bucholtz or Chamberlain in a deal. Santana forced us to make the move sooner then later so we took the best available when he forced us to. If we hadn't he wouldnt have waived his no trade clause and we would have gotten nothing for him when left for free agency in a year.
