Answers to troublesome RRS/Martin Bashir/Nightline questions

I’d like to provide answers to a couple of questions that Ray and Kirk had a little difficulty with on Nightline's episode titled, Nightline Faceoff: Does God Exist? (now on YouTube as Way of the Master vs. Rational Response). I felt compelled to pitch in and clarify these issues, not because Ray and Kirk lacked insight, but because they faced staunch opposition. I believe Mr. Cameron and Mr. Comfort might agree with my view.

One question that was a bit problematic was the one about who created God. Here's my answer:

When Ray said everything we see has a creator, he was referring to things we can see within our universe. Like a mountain, or a tree, or the sky. We can see these things, so we know each of them has a creator. But God can’t be seen by the naked eye. He is a spiritual being, felt only through faith, not an object or creature within the confines of creation. God is a spirit that cannot be created, and since he cannot be created, he was always there. He can’t be compared to a cloud, or a leaf, or a fish. Again, Ray Comfort’s point is that everything we see in this universe has a creator. RRS’ question asking ‘who then created God?’ is not fair, because they have never seen God, and don’t even believe he exists. The fact is that no one living today has ever seen or touched God. We can only see and feel God through faith. But everything we can see in our world was created, and God is the creator.

The other troubling question pertained to the multiplicity of gods and religions throughout the globe. Why aren’t these other peoples correct about their gods and religions?

The answer is that the spread and promulgation of Christ’s message is a process. This process has taken centuries, and even millennia. God chose to have this work done by humans, and therefore it has moved at the pace of humans. The word hasn’t reached every corner of the world. However, studies suggest that most people on the planet have heard of Jesus, whether through religion, movies, books, radio or television. Christianity is the largest religion in the world, and the bible is the best-selling book of all time. This is scientific evidence that our God is the one true God, and the only one that has truly survived.
