Doesn't Anyone watch this Show??

How come there are no posts?

There are 3 kinds of people:
Those who can count and those who can't.

"...seeking and saving the lost just as Jesus did!"
Uummm...I don't think Jesus walked around asking everyone if they've
kept the Ten Commandments.Yeah, maybe once or twice. He used the law to
illustrate a point, but Jesus usually told stories(and performed
miracles)to get the peoples' attention!
THE WAY OF THE MASTER is thought-provoking,yet intimidating.
The show is thought-provoking in that it uses the Ten
Commandments as a mirror to show people their sinful nature and their
need for salvation. The interviewers even tell the people about Jesus'
death and resurrection, and in some episodes, help the person to ask
Jesus to forgive them of their sins. That's cool!
But the show gets very intimidating, even to this "sinner-saved-by-
grace"viewer, whenever after Ray or Kirk tells each person about
what Jesus did for them, they don't tell them to believe that Jesus
died on the cross for your sins, was raised from the dead,to confess
your sins to Jesus, and ask Him to come into your heart and save you!
No siree!Instead, they tell you to repent! and put your trust in God!
I told a few Christian friends of mine about this and they laughed!
So,Jesus endured so much pain and suffering on the cross, shedding his
precious blood for me,so I can clean up my OWN life! That doesn't
make any sense! If someone told you to repent and put your trust in God,
you'd probably think,"O.K.,I just clean up my life and get religious!"
Jesus didn't shed his blood on the cross,so we can clean our own lives
up!He died so He can clean us up if we ask him to.How can the Holy
Spirit dwell in your heart if your busy trying to repent and get religious
rather than asking Christ to come into your heart and have Him change
you?!
The show has opened my eyes about a few things.Ray Comfort and Kirk
Cameron seem likeable,well-informed,and bold.But sometimes,playing
the Ten Commandments test doesn't always work on everyone!

I like this show too. I accepted Christ when I was 6 (im almost 14 now) and even though I've studied religion heavily, this show still teaches me a lot of new things.

Like how to overbearingly push your religion on everyone else and scare people with imaginary ideas like hell? I am not saying you do that, but it is all I see espoused on this show, so certainly this is all you could have "learned" from it. If you accepted Christ at six, then you are simply brainwashed into adamantly believing it because it is all you've ever known. Seriously. Consider that a person in another country is Muslim simply because that is what they were raised to be. Is it really any different? Muslims believe in their version just as much as you do in yours, so exactly what is so special about religious belief???

The only thing special is that this person belongs to the group of peolpe that feels they are so much better than we are and that were going to hell. Well I am sorry to say to that person but hells meant for mass murderurs, and peolpe who are self agrandizing dicks like kirk, and ray.

"It's too bad you feel that way. Because if you've ever talked with a real Christian, or watched THIS SHOW BEFORE JUDGING IT, then you would see that Christians don't think of themselves as "better than you""

I am surrounded by "real christians", and used to be one for a majority of my adult life. Christians do think of themselves as better, all the while pretending like they don't. I sit back and silently watch this in action every day, and it disgusts me. Be it political views or lifestyles that don't fit with their beliefs, believers walk around looking down their nose at others they judge as sinners who should be damned. Religion is constantly used as an excuse to justify people's own disapprovals and/or discomforts with varying things.

"Kirk Cameron and Ray Comfort say that they are sinners too, many times on the show. We ALL fall short of the glory of God and deserve Hell. One sin isn't worse than another. Sin is sin"

Kirk and Ray are very condescending in what they say. The claim to their being sinners too is lip service to the fact that they possess some great and wonderful truth that the rest of the world doesn't have. They don't. What they possess is the ability to get into people's faces and slap them with the bible. They only show their audiences edited footage of select interviews, to which believers readily accept. I'd dearly love to see some of the unedited footage, as I am sure quite a few put them in their place. I speak factually, and not referring to any incidents of fighting of vulgarity. I strongly suspect that the viewer is only being shown half the picture, another grand manipulative attempt to prove their points.

I watched their debate with an atheist scholar one time. What a disappointment, as it was merely a recording of the atheist had to say, at which point they would stop the recording and "prove" him wrong. I'd love to have seen this face to face!

"And Hell isn't an imaginary "make it what you want it" place. You can't make up the rules of who gets into Hell and who doesn't. Did you create Hell? Did you create Heaven? No. So why do you think you get to decide who gets in and who doesn't?"

Hell, as well as heaven, is completely imaginary. Hell is a fear tactic used to ensure that believers are scared to question what is told to them. Believe me, it works. It caused my realization that religion isn't true to be a protracted process, simply because I was scared of hell, LOL! The authors of every religion out there make up their own rules, so why can't others? Your belief in it proves nothing other than the fact that YOU believe in it.

"And to the poster who said that we shouldn't scare people into faith, what do you think about this verse from the Bible?
Matthew 10:28: "And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell."

Straight from Jesus' mouth to your eyes buddy! lol "

So...quoting the bible is supposed to make it real? Here we go again, circular reasoning 101. God is real because the bible says that god said it is real, therefore it is true! LOL!

How do you know what a "real christian" is if you aren't one? Maybe that's why you put quotations around it. Any Christians you see that think they're better than everyone else probably isn't a Christian. Don't believe everything you hear, even Jesus agreed with that. You try to be like Jesus, not Man.

If you want to see Ray and Kirk REALLY argue with atheists, go to youtube and enter "Way of the master vs rational response". The rational response squad is an atheist group set out to prove, of course, that God doesn't exist. This is a GREAT debate in my opinion. And I don't say this because Ray and Kirk won(I really can't say who did actually). It starts with Ep(isode) 1, Part 1 and ends with Ep(isode) 2, Part 5.

Hell and heaven aren't imaginary(you thought I would say anything different?) I don't know how much this would help, but I became a Christian being open-minded. Even to this day, I will listen to anyone's argument against Christianity without running the other way. I'm actually prepared to be wrong. Every Christian should be. Hell doesn't scare me because I know if I go there, it's my choice. I won't be dragged kicking and screaming.

Let me tell you what that verse ACTUALLY means: IF YOU ARE going to be fear anything, it would make sense for it to be God who can destroy your soul and body. It doesn't mean you should be afraid of him, but why would you fear what any man can do when God can do worse? And whether or not it's real doesn't matter, although I know you're just replying to the comment, "Straight from Jesus' mouth to your eyes buddy! lol" and I don't blame you.

I spent my entire childhood growing up. What a waste.

"How do you know what a "real christian" is if you aren't one? Maybe that's why you put quotations around it"

If you read more carefully, you'd note that I said I was a christian for most of my adult life. Quotations are used to point out that the christians who surround me are the "real christians" from the post I was responding to and had quoted in italics. I shouldn't have to be explaining that. You aren't by chance one of those who rationalize that anybody who stops being christian was never one to begin with are you? If so, then that is the height of denial as you think you possess some special understanding that others simply don't get. I say "denial', because you don't like to acknowledge the fact that someone can be just as christian as you and still walk away from it.

"You can say that for any argument. Anybody can say there is no God and say not being able to see him is proof. See? Two can play that on"

No, i don't see. What I do see is that many believers go around making these magical proclamations that cannot be proven. Conveniently, they have "faith" on their side which dictates that they don't need proof and instead only need "belief". Last I looked, belief didn't equate to fact, or else theirs and all other beliefs out there would be true. Christians don't corner the market on absolute answers, but instead are just one of many versions founded upon faith alone. I simply see no validity in any of the claims of deities, regardless the religion they stem from. I am still waiting, but my wait will be in vain, for believers have the wondrous catch 22 that they believe it, therefore it is true.

"Any Christians you see that think they're better than everyone else probably isn't a Christian"

If thats the case, then there are no real christians. Like I stated above, I sit back and silently watch these true believers every day, listening to what they say and what their views are. They do sport an attitude of being better-than or holier-than-thou while pretending like they don't. Who are you to say that these are not christians? I am not intending that to be smart sounding, but rather to focus on the fact that everyone who is christian has a heightened sense of status (here or in their idea of the afterlife) and a dulled sense of their own wrongs. These people I speak about are christian in every sense of the word.

"If you want to see Ray and Kirk REALLY argue with atheists, go to youtube and enter "Way of the master vs rational response". The rational response squad is an atheist group set out to prove, of course, that God doesn't exist. This is a GREAT debate in my opinion. I've seen it, and here are my thoughts on it, http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1578846/board/nest/73960140.

"Hell doesn't scare me because I know if I go there, it's my choice"

I believe it is actually god's choice, and here is why...predestination. It's in the bible, a simple statement that blatantly states that god knows his believers from before the foundation of the world. It's a contradiction in the doctrine, sure, but believers tend to bend over backwards to rationalize this little tidbit away.

Eph 1:4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
Eph 1:5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
Eph 1:6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.

Eph 1:11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:

From Strong's Concordance...

Chosen - 1) to pick out, choose, to pick or choose out for one's self
a) choosing one out of many, i.e. Jesus choosing his disciples
b) choosing one for an office
c) of God choosing whom he judged fit to receive his favours and separated from the rest of mankind to be peculiarly his own and to be attended continually by his gracious oversight

foundation - 1) a throwing or laying down
a) the injection or depositing of the virile semen in the womb
b) of the seed of plants and animals

world - the world, the universe

predestinated - 1) to predetermine, decide beforehand

2) in the NT of God decreeing from eternity

3) to foreordain, appoint beforehand

No, if you went to hell, it would definitely be because of predestination and not by your own hand, as you didn't truly have the choice that you seem to think you did.

I guess trying to show people (that is how you spell the word people BTW) that some of the things in their lives need a change for the better is just a horrible act of terrorism! Maybe if they were out there trying to get underage girls to lie about their age so they can get abortions - no wait that's already being done by the stalwart group Planned Parenthood; or perhaps the "inconvenient truth" that is global warming - no wait Al Gore has that covered; Is it so wrong to talk to others about your point of view? Why are they "self agrandizing dicks" (BTW - it's aggrandizing - look up the definition before you use words to try and insult people)? They seem like sincere thoughtful people who are doing something that many find difficult to do. They could just tell people to convert or die - no wait that's the Muslim countries, sorry. I know YOU are familiar with the old saying "it is better to be silent and thought a fool that to speak and remove all doubt." Try that next time

"DFJ, that's probably one of the oldest atheistic tricks I've ever seen. Been there done the same thing"

Tricks would imply lies.

"I never seen the person push his religion on anyone on this board. You're just provoking arguments in order to get attention. Bravo, bravo"

I don't recall saying they did that. Actually, all I was doing was pointing out that this is all I see done on The Way Of the Master. A user earlier stated that he learns from the show, and this is all I could possibly see on it that someone could learn. Maybe I am not responding to exactly what you are talking about, but your lack of being bothered to use quotes leaves me having to make assumptions. Not to be mean in saying that, but using quotes makes it a lot easier for me to know what you were addressing to begin with.

At six? That's like accepting Superman or one of the Ninja turtles. Kids should not be taught of religion before age 12. Otherwise, it's forced indoctrination. (IE: Brainwashing)

I wouldn't go near it for a million dollars laid out in a line. I've been a Christian for forty-six years and the intimidating "believe our way or burn forever" brand of the Faith that Comfort and Cameron are peddling is every bit as toxic as the brand of Islam that drove those planes into the Towers, the Pentagon, and that lonely field in Pennsylvania on 11 September 2001.

Any time anyone begins a conversation or speech with "It is written" or "Thus saith the Lord" or any variation on that theme, it's a signal to head for the bathroom.
